Trouble afoot! The return of the pit
So I wanted to update my ffnet account with all the many fics I've written since like 2003. I am, naturally, being punished for this.
I tried to access my old ffnet account, but god only knows what the password is, so I tried password recovery, but it sends the password to my Hotmail account, which I have since lost track of. I started creating a new ffnet account, but I am frustrated with the two-day "cooldown" period before I'm allowed to do anything.
So I sent them an email. Hey, I've been on this site since 1998, but that was a long time ago and idk what the password is and the email account is dead, can you help or am I screwed? And they say, sure, just prove your identity by telling us the password! If you get close, you can have the account!
As uneasy as I am giving my password out to some random dude who works at ffnet, I give him the ones that are old enough that I haven't used them in ages, making them good candidates for the ffnet account. They both start with "xy". Then I also point out that hey, I've had this LJ since 2002, and unlock an old entry so that he can see where I'm talking about fics I wrote that were posted on ffnet in 2002 and have comments dated 2002. Does that help?
He responds by saying, "Close! It starts with 'xy'!"
....thanks for the help! If I knew what my password was, I sure would tell you! Or for that matter, if I knew what the password was, I'd just go in and change the email myself.
So, if you're reading this, James -- I'm totally the person who has this account who has this email who has this ffnet account. Honest to god.
