Cutscene~ In the bad light of the morgue, the Gas Mask Guy's mask is off, and his face is flickering between Murphy's and the fat dude we killed in the first scene of the game.
The little boy from earlier is here.
Boy: You killed him! You killed the bogeyman!
Murphy: It doesn't matter. ...It didn't bring you back.
He apologizes to the body, and closes its eyelids.
We end up in a series of tunnels. At the end is a ladder leading up to street level! OUTSIIIIDE IT'S BEAUTIFUL OUT HERE IN THE-- Silent Hill. So, yeah.
Okay, looks like because we missed some sidequests earlier by stumbling into the orphanage, we can't do some sidequests now. Looks like maybe it's time to go mess around and try to get DJ Ricks's boat?
I really struggled to find the lever to lower the bridge to cross Pleasant River, and then I wandered a little bit and found a house with a side quest in it involving a really creepy mirror. :D
I'm sad about my inability to go back, but I don't think it's really supposed to be happening. The subway system -- which you must walk through -- provides 'easy' access to all areas of town and the guide straight-up tells me to go through it to get back to previous areas to complete side quests.
Unfortunately, I haven't found whatever key is necessary to unlock the subway doors and I can't find the part of the guide that tells me where it is and it might be back on the other side of the town I can't get to.
If so, we're very close to the end of the game because I can't go back.
But I'm really interested in all the side quests and may force myself to do another playthrough.
Confirmed: In order to open the tunnels, you have to do the "Homeless" side quest, which begins in Pearl Creek, which I don't think I can get to from here. Le sigh.
When you buy Downpour BE SURE TO DO THE "HOMELESS" QUEST. You can start it as soon as you get to the Pearl Creek district. Look up stuff online and get it done. /lamest

Because the UV light we already had that did exactly that was... just not enough revealing of hidden symbols.

Don't they sell mannequins in Home Depot? Seems like a missed opportunity.
