Entry of Random: You know you were raised on showtunes when you can listen to an MP3 for five seconds and say whether or not it's "your" Christine.
Sarah Brightman is my Christine, I think. Michael Crawford is the Phantom, end, no further discussion, he had me at hello, there exists nobody else, especially not the guy with the lisp, argh go away. I can also identify "my" jilted girl in Evita who sings "Another Suitcase in Another Hall" and "my" cast for The Mikado.
There you have it -- The Phantom of the Opera, Evita, and The Mikado. Probably also My Fair Lady, although I don't have any of that at the moment.
I always loathed Raoul. Why did Christine choose him when the Phantom (MY Phantom, THE Phantom, damn you) was so smooth and sexy and seductive? You know she wanted him, it was obvious that she was utterly fascinated by him, and why wouldn't she be, Music of the Night is just this side of erotic poetry when the Phantom sings it to her.
At least I will always have the knowledge that she is not quite as smart as I am.
