Seriously Tidus you can't live up to this

Truly The World Ends With You is a game that speaks to my soul. Another Neku is actually me today. I am too emotionally drained to turn on Kingdom Hearts.

But I am having a lot of feelings about Zidane and Garnet! They are the best fucking Final Fantasy romance. (Fran and Balthier are already married so they're not a romance per se. Step off.) I don't think I'd have shipped it nearly so hard if the final scene of the game hadn't been so perfect and romantic and gah. Fucking Zidane. Why is he so awesome. Why is this a game that no one played or cares about.

Me! Me! I don't care what anyone else says but Final Fantasy IX will forever be my favourite. Zidane and Garnet are so perfect, and that ending. That ending! Zidane was so refreshing after the last two Final Fantasy protags that I just latched on to him and never really let go.

omg I love FFIX -- definitely one of the best Final Fantasies, possibly my favorite. It took me 14 years to finish it because I am made of failure but I always felt like it was really fun to play and I loved the game system, somehow it's just more fun to play than the newer games?? I can't really explain it. It's not like I dislike playing FFX, but somehow they atmosphere and the classic gameplay and the great writing and the wonderful characters combine to create an amazing playing experience that I loved for 14 years before finally making it all the way to the end, lolol

I just reread my liveblog and Zidane and Garnet are such an amazing couple. He helped her go from this awkward sheltered princess who didn't know how to respond to a little flirting to the kind of confident woman who's like "Yep, let's go get married" and who responds to his teasing with mockery ("We should form a bandit team! We'll call ourselves 'The Betrothed!'" "My talent's up to snuff, but that nickname isn't.") and I just love that, that he genuinely made her kind of badass -- and they're really, demonstrably preoccupied with each other -- and for all his shameless perving and easy confidence he doesn't actually feel like he's worthy of her and when she becomes queen he's like, "How can I hold her back?"

And then "Bring my beloved Dagger to me!" and sldkfjslkjg I can't.

I was thinking that Zidane is one in a very small, select group of protagonists who really has it all going on -- he's confident, he's fun, he's charming -- and he's smart. It's so easy to make protagonists be stupid so that you can obscure what's going on from the player, but Zidane (like Yuri in Tales of Vesperia) often knows things before the player does. Emos and twits can just go sit in the corner. I will take awesome any day.

So I'm. I'm just sitting here fangirling this game now. Pretty hard.

Why do you insist on not living here! I would drop everything and play it for you. (Technically I could in fact stream it but at this rate I'm going to promise to stream everything there ever was and your eyes will roll right out of your head.)

...Then I would play FFIV because I want to finish that too... and probably FFVI because I like it

And in reality, I will continue to mostly feel too soulless to do anything at all
