Mac Retardation #5...5

We have a scanner that doesn't work. No on switch - no install software - no way to connect to it. It's dead or in a coma or something. I told my bosses when they bought their new iMac G5s to get a scanner also. Instead they came back with a printer/scanner/copier that they planned to install in their office.

I went to them after the printer debacle and suggested I still needed a scanner; after a moment, the intended result filtered in, and I had a new printer/scanner/copier.

I took it out of the box.

For the last four hours, ever since then, I have been non-stop on the phone with tech support trying to make it work.

The printer's fine.

But the Mac won't acknowledge it. And the software seems to have drivers for every kind of HP printer conceivable.

Except this one.

And four hours later, we still can't make anything work.

This problem would have been finished four hours ago on a PC.

The computer industry is conspiring against anyone trying to mix PC and Mac stuff. I know this sounds strange, but have you ever noticed why some things work better on different platforms? The people who make the little itty bitty parts for the computers want you to buy as many as you ahve to....[/end silly rant]... But seriously, think about it.

In the end it turns out that software is like WoW! When a patch is released, all the mods stop working for a few days!

Only when Mac OSX is updated, all the software stops working for weeks until you call tech support and talk to them for four hours and finally get the "experimental" solution. *dies*

That's SO weird. I think your Mac problem is like my Dell problem, where nothing seems to work right. Is there a CD that came with the printer? There was one with mine that I had to put in to install the printer...

Macs are too lame to have plug-and-play, so I put the CD in first thing. Didn't save me from four hours of tech support. It turns out that the new update to OS X is ruining all the third-party software.

For the record, these problems aren't just with my Mac, but also with my coworker's Mac, and she has more RAM and hard drive space on that thing than any human being could reasonably use. XD

I think in the end, all computers are just fuckers.

That's really weird that it's giving you that many problems. I have a mac laptop and have never gone through crap like this. o_O *huggles* I hope you can make it work...
