I don't even like pink

Dear Nintendo USA:

I know you know that there is a female audience for video games. Your Japanese counterpart routinely creates products exclusively for this market, selling "for girls" versions of games and marketing alternate versions of everything down to tires with Hello Kitty emblazoned on it. You have even begun to acknowledge it - I hear that Harvest Moon: AWL for Girls was popular enough that you decided to bring over more "for girls" games. Good for you.

But why did you go and make a pink DS, and then only make it for distribution from Toys'R'Us and Target?

I'm twenty-two years old, female, and play video games. I want a DS. I want one in pink with a pre-packaged game for only $10 more than the regular DS. I am not six years old, as you seem to assume from your choice of retailers. And I can't find one anywhere.

The teal bundle is selling for $130. The pink one is selling for twice that. I keep seeing signs from Amazon.com saying "List Price: $179.00 - Buy New: $239.00". Wow, what a deal! And that's on the places that aren't out of stock. The teal one is cheaper because it is ugly. But that's not important. What's important is that you're retarded and I'm very angry at you for the next ten minutes.

Love, Kay

Well, maybe the pink one is that exciting. Maybe it's made out of magical pearls that distort space-time, effectively creating a "free time field" in which to play games. That would be very exciting.

But just to correct the idea that I'm excited the Nintendo DS to the point of bursting into tears. It's just time for me to get a DS. There are games coming out for it soon that I want, so it's time. And I happen to want a pink one that Nintendo has made it impossible for me to get without paying twice the retail value. Hence, irritation.
