I just hope Kazaa Lite isn't banned or something.

[livejournal.com profile] yumemisama: Kazaa is suing the RIAA for copyright infringement.
[livejournal.com profile] yumemisama: Yes, I have that the right way around.
[livejournal.com profile] kay_willow: ^____^
[livejournal.com profile] kay_willow: I mean -- what?
[livejournal.com profile] yumemisama: Kazaa is suing the RIAA for copyright infringement under the DMCA.
[livejournal.com profile] yumemisama: Firstly, the RIAA violated the Kazaa end-user agreement, which says "thou shalt not use this software to track IPs," which was exactly what they did.
[livejournal.com profile] kay_willow: *love*
[livejournal.com profile] yumemisama: And secondly, the RIAA used -- for a demonstration in court -- Kazaa Lite, which is a reverse-engineered clone of the Kazaa software which is not authorized by Kazaa itself, and therefore is illegal under the DMCA.
[livejournal.com profile] kay_willow: *snork*
[livejournal.com profile] yumemisama: I believe the message Kazaa is trying to send is, "Shut the fuck up."
[livejournal.com profile] kay_willow: I love Kazaa.
[livejournal.com profile] kay_willow: Suddenly, a lot more than before.

Why do I keep thinking Napster all over again. All these court battles seem to always lead to nothing. Hopefully it'll get these companies off our asses for a while though. Kazaa can entertain them for a while, leaving us a few months of peace piracy. :P

That's priceless.

*happy sigh*
