More cat news (this time less happy)
Ela, one of our new kittens, looks exactly like my cat Hoshi, who lives at my mother's house. I love her, but she's been so many years with me rarely there, and she has two other cats there and it would kill her to leave Maxx -- after all this time, ten years, it feels cruel to uproot her and drag her across the country. I left her there. My mom becomes her surrogate mother when I'm not there to haunt.
But Ela looks just like her. Same coloring, in many of the same places. They don't have terribly similar attitudes, and Ela's much more laid-back than she is. (Eight years later she'll still fight with Rico and hiss at him, but Ela took about two days to get used to Roxas.)
My mother told me today that a few days after I left, Hoshi left and she hasn't been back yet. It's been over two weeks now, I think. They don't think she was killed -- my mother investigated that option very thoroughly -- but they have no idea where she is. There are lots of signs up and stuff; they think someone might have been charmed by her and taken indoors, but if she has, eventually she'll dash for the door and escape, cuz she's an outdoor girl; and sometimes cats do things like this, they vanish for a month and then just turn up at home again.
It's still very depressing. My poor girl. I hope she gets home okay.

Does that mean you're in Denver now? I feel awful, I'm such a spaz for not keeping up. :P

We weren't going to name him Roxas -- originally we were going to get girls which would be named Willow and Persephone respectively. But we kept only finding boys, and the one teeny little shaky kitten that would hardly ever let you touch him was totally a Roxaskitty, according to Li-san. We got the Elakitty a little while later, he's much bigger and two months older, and originally he was nameless because he doesn't look like an Axelkitty! But he ACTED like one. So we compromised with Elakitty.
Now Roxas chases Ela all over the house, and will randomly go off by himself and meow plaintively until Ela goes to find him and keep him company, so really he owns Ela and is totally worthy of the name.

Makes me want a pair of kittens even more now XD (ones that are better behaved than my friends cats that I lived with last year -.-;;; ) But you can't have pets in the dorms, so I have to wait until my place of residency stabilizes.
Which could be next year, omg *doesn't wanna be a real person yet XD*

Actually, it's been really kind of temperate here. There are bouts of snow -- on occasion, ridiculous snow -- but I took a walk around the other day and it was kind of pleasant out. No need for gloves or anything.

(Same cousin had a different cat who took one look at the family's new dog and immediately moved in with the family two houses down. I think relocating is a feline way of voting.)

*snugs* I hope she turns up soon, safe and sound.
