sincere | Exhausted and lame

Sora/Roxas.

That's a tough one. I think twinsex can be kind of hot and they have that feeling in a lot of pairings (and in some circumstances literal twinsex), and I like the dynamic-- Sora's understanding enough and Roxas could use his optimism and unconditional support.

My main problem with it is mostly the how. XD I mean, I hate the "lol Roxas is alive in Sora and he has conversations with the Destiny Islands trio all the time and he and Namine make out every time Sora and Kairi make out lol" line of thinking, I mean, it's all very pat and Disney and creepy and GAH. It's just not right. So I'm not a fan of the post-game dynamic, I guess.

But I like it. :3

Personally, I'm rather indecisive with the pairing~ It's interesting to hear someone's opinion on it. :3

Yeah, I agree, it's an odd issue to poke. It's somewhat rare and only diehard fans seem to write it, because, I mean, everyone else is sort of stymied by the difficulties. XD Like the fact that they never co-exist, and may be mutually exclusive!

I love them. ♥♥ Thrall is so woobie and Jaina is the only one who will bother him. And he's more genuinely good than Arthas was to begin with. I mean, lol, I guess you can serve the light with a whole heaping mountain of prejudice and intolerance, but no one does sincerity like Thrall does. And he's got a canon weakness for pretty blonde girls.

Haven't thought about it. I'm not a big fan of Adelbert/Conrad by itself, but I like them both with Julia, and on due thought, I like them both with Julia at the same time. XD I feel like there would be an edge to it, competitive maybe, which would add a spark to it that I don't normally get off Adelbert and Conrad. And competitive sex is hot. ♥

She's important enough to each of them that I feel like they'd set aside their differences without, at least for a while, really relenting them. So I like them as a threesome. :3

Tooootally hot. I think the hardest part would be getting them to do it. Now someone just needs to write it. Heh.

Demyx: I love him. He's good-natured and independent-thinking, and he's endlessly tolerant of everyone else thinking he's stupid. Maybe he's a little insecure, but when in the heat of the moment he's quick-thinking and collected, as we see in the added scene in FM+ -- and really annoying to fight. D:

On the other hand, I don't love his fans. :\ A lot of them are crazy, and seem to like him purely because he's cute and he's nice. THEREFORE find other pretty people and pair him with them!!1 omg he's not dead he's an angel in heaven and he'll be waiting for me when I die!!!1 It kills a lot of my enjoyment in him. *sob*

Roxas/Axel/Demyx: I'm not really a fan, the lackofcanon of it bothers me. Axel says outright that he doesn't like anyone in the Organization besides Roxas, and while I ordinarily still see Axel with a lot of people ~~because he's totally sexy, and also a bastard~~ I don't think Demyx is one of them. Part of me thinks he's not in it for meaningless sex and would want something real, and the rest of me thinks that even if he were into meaningless sex, it wouldn't be like all the Axel/Demyx fans write it -- omgtruelove. No, it'd be more like... they fuck sometimes. It's cool that Axel doesn't stay the night and cuddle. It's okay if Axel fucks someone else, and no one gets woobie if the other guy is away for a few days.

I also feel like Axel is possessive and would be Displeased if Roxas were sharing that singular redeeming friendship that he valued so much with another person. For Roxas and Demyx solely, I think it could be interesting-- Demyx's perspective is unique and Roxas is open enough to learn from him. They'd be a totally different pair, and it could be shiny.

So I can work with each component of it, but I don't really go for them as a threesome.

Hmm...OT3, SoRiKai.

...I don't like it.

I mean, I guess I like it as an idea. I like threesomes and I like friends getting it on! Maybe it's because he's The Main Character. But to me Sora/Riku/Kairi feels to me like it's centered around Sora. Like it's Sora/Riku and Sora/Kairi and the Riku/Kairi element is just... there because they're both sleeping with Sora. They're lovers with him and just friends with each other, he's the "middle" of the pairing.

(I also have to confess that of the three sides of the pairing, Riku/Kairi is the one I find least plausible in canon. I think it could be done well in fic, but no one seems to write it except lame fangirls who can't pull it off.)

I know disliking OT3 would get me lynched in the 'smart' sections of the fandom, though. XD

So if you were to find a plausible argument for Riku/Kairi or see the SoRiKai dynamic written in such a way that it stressed that element of the pairing as well as the Sora-centricness of it, would it be more amenable to your tastes?

Likewise, do you see any potential for a Riku-centered SoRiKai, or a Kairi-centered? For example, a SoRiKai dynamic developing out of a concern for Riku and his emotardness? Or one that comes from the boys kind of turning their competitive edge on dating Kairi?

I find that threesomes in general, while often tasty, are very difficult to write in roundness -- almost every time I see it, it focuses on one person, or on one pair of the three, or the writing's more sincere with only two of the group, and so the third member feels tacked-on. So it's not solely with this pairing, but in most threesome writing, although it's partly what affects my interest in finding good OT3 fic.

The Kairi-centric dynamic for me is kind of bland -- not because they don't both care about her, because they do. Because A) it feels to me like people assuming that the girl must be the emotional center between the two boys because lol boys and their emotions? or perhaps because they're competing over her, and B) because I don't think Riku would do well in that relationship in general. Even assuming this is a situation where Kairi means more to him than Sora, which is a little weird for me to wrap my head around, it seems to me like he needs more attention than that -- more affirmation. I can see it being about Sora, or about Riku, but being about Kairi feels like... Riku's in the way, Sora cares for her. If left to themselves they'd be happy. They don't need him. Insert emotardness here.

But Riku-centric I think would be very interesting. I think both Kairi and Sora, knowing him to need that extra attention, could (and would!) make it about him when he needed it, even if he isn't the "central" focus. I CAN see it and it IS kind of shiny, honestly... ~~Although as far as I know I've only seen anyone take this angle on it once, and the others are all "Sora or Kairi are the center figure!"~~

So in this case I think my problem goes back to being with Riku/Kairi. Even in the first game, Riku seemed less like he was competing with Sora for Kairi and more like he was trying to goad Sora into chasing Kairi, because Sora is at this point established as quietly crushing on her. And at the same point Kairi seems less interested in Riku than in Sora -- I mean, she tried to get Sora to run away with her, ditching Riku. I think that a lot of the distance she felt in him is amended by the end of the second game, but it still doesn't sit well with me. I think they make fantastic friends, but less so lovers.

Someone beat me to asking about Demyx! So. I see you have xxxHolic icons. What're your thoughts on Yuuko? ~~Alternatively, Namine babble is good. Or NamiKai.~~

Yuuko: She's so awesome. XD I love her. I don't like characters who are TOO awesome -- the character inevitably wiser than the main character, who is always unruffled and never wrong. But Yuuko does it right. Because she's never wrong but she's also never perfect. She's a drunk and a slob and a smug crowing jerk. You sympathize with Watanuki for being driven absolutely crazy by her. You just can't WIN! That's how I feel about other Too Awesome characters, but too often the rest of the characters seem to be like, "He sure is awesome. Harrumph." And I'm like, no! Wish you could smack that look off his face! That allows me, as the reader, to enjoy the other character. X3 Yuuko is unbearably awesome, and wonerful in her Sober Mystical moments, and fun, and her fashion is outrageous and fantastic. So I ♥ her.

Namine: I think Namine is an easy character to get totally wrong, and I think this is partly because so few people really have any idea what she was like before KH2. They just saw her as a collected girl with wacky powers and an attachment to Roxas -- or perhaps read the script of CoM and they figure, well, she's a sad figure, she had to do such a horrible thing. But in actually playing CoM, in actually seeing the way everyone treats her and how she huddles in on herself and doesn't take any independent action, you realize how... battered she is. Namine was broken, scared of the people she was with, desperate for anything, anyone to help her, even if it meant hurting that person. Even at the end of the game, she gave Sora the choice to remember her or remember his childhood, and he chose his past, and you can tell that even after all this, she hoped that he would pick her.

And I love her for it. Because she's such a wounded character who still clung to hope, who still managed to find her backbone and stand up for herself when she knew that she couldn't do this to a good person anymore. And in KH2 I find her extremely sad, like she's given up thinking she deserves happiness or caring, or even that she could, as a Nobody, find happiness or caring. Namine's belief that a Nobody can't be happy by themselves is the entire reason KH2 happened -- if she had thought that Roxas had a chance at genuine happiness without Sora, I don't think she would have done it. After all, even to the end she was urging him to believe that she hadn't just doomed him -- she had saved him from being incomplete forever. And still, the suggestion is that she learned better, after (Axel says in the new scene that he and Namine have been talking about things and maybe Roxas did have a heart, maybe they do) and even knowing that, she still gave herself up without a second thought.

So, more love. :3

Aaaand Kairi/Namine: oh boy. ♥ I think that, in a feminine kind of way, Kairi is a lot like what Namine longed for so much in Sora -- confident, forgiving, gentle, stubbornly supportive. I feel like Kairi wouldn't let her think badly of herself, would fight for her. And Kairi, to me, feels like the Princess in a Tower for Sora and Riku. They would have been happy on the dark shore forever just knowing that she was okay, safe. It's not about winning Kairi, it's about keeping her safe. I think that this isn't what Kairi wants, like before either could be in a pairing/threesome with her she'd have to teach them to stop treating her like a princess. I can totally see Kairi wanting someone else to be the princess, and Namine needs to be that princess. If I'm making any sense by this time.

Anyway, I think they work really well and are a surprisingly healthy pairing. XD Also, soooo hot. ~~I wrote a couple of tiny semi-smut things with them a while back~~~
