Whyyyyyy?

[livejournal.com profile] narichan, I have horrible news. ~_~

I saw the newest Britney Spears video, something about Music or other, and she and Madonna are basically throwing sexual tension back and forth across the room, and then at the end of the video Britney (!!!) pins Madonna (!!!) to the wall and dives in for a kiss and looks very disconcerted when Madonna "vanishes".

Yes. Gratuituous celebrity abuse of lesbianism. What really hurts is that I like Spears so much more than Aguilera. She has a couple of songs I like to listen to. Now I feel kind of... dirty. O_o

In brighter news, I have officially completed a... something. It's got Ginji, and it's got Yukihiko, and vague hints of Ginji and Yukihiko, and it's got vague hints of Ban and Ginji, and... and horrible death. I'm sorry in advance. ^^;; Someday I hope to actually write Ginji/Yukihiko, despite the defiance of my Blond Rule. Hmm...

Exact challenge from [livejournal.com profile] temps_mort community: Here's something you may all have a bit of fun with. Three scenes, three themes: past, present and future. The present is of course, the current timeline your series of choice is set in. The arrangement doesn't matter, you may place the scene set in the future first, skip back to the past and then end it with the present, or any other way which would suit you better. It doesn't even have to be the same characters involved in all three scenes, as long as it's the same series of course, and as long as its clear to your readers which of the three it is.

However (yes, of course there's a catch), the last sentence on your first scene, should be the first sentence on your second scene. The last sentence on your second will be the first one on your third scene, and the last sentence on your third scene should have been the first sentence on your first scene.

Poison, written in under 90 minutes

That quiet death that we know so well. I heard it for the first time on that day, with our own two ears, as she fell. It was perfectly silent, throughout the world, from the time he stepped back to the time her lifeless body hit the ground, with a soft sound as if she'd fallen into snow that broke us.

We had reacted in different ways at that moment: Natsuhiko could only stare in disbelief, and Ukyou howled like a wild thing; Kirara screamed, Yukihiko wept. I stored away my grief. Stored it all away. Hikage is the contained one, the one with the quiet like death. I did not mourn, do not mourn, and will not mourn -- not until the day she is avenged.

Elise, my sister, where would you be in the world today if it hadn't been for your kindness?

Midou Ban was Natushiko's friend. They had played together, children in the broad world, and Elise had sheltered them. Midou Ban has repaid her selfless generosity with the kiss of death. I remember her blood against the ground. If I ever went back, I expect we would see it still it pooled there, fresh red. Surely even such ground would have choked on the fruit of such pure, senseless sacrifice...

I watched, after that, as Natsuhiko became a changed man. I believe that Midou spoke to us after her death, but we could hear nothing over the silence of our eldest brother. In truth, nothing he could have said would have mattered: the death of Elise must be avenged. Natsuhiko was a playful child no longer, but thereafter a cold, unfeeling husk of a man, less human than any of us.

Yes. Everything was different from that moment on.

--------

Everything was different from that moment on. The moment when Yukihiko first saw the boy called Amano Ginji and, knowing that he would be our enemy, befriended him.

Why? I don't understand. What insane masochistic impulse would have prompted the damn fool to take into his heart a man he'll have to cut down when we tear into his partner? It's the same mistake Elise made, the one that got her killed. You going to die like that, Yukihiko-chan, without even getting your revenge first?

"But Tokisada-oniisan," he'll say, if I care enough to ask him, which we don't, "I don't want revenge." Because he's weak, Yukihiko.

Things changed after he met Ginji. Today I'm watching him argue with Natsuhiko. Argue with Natsuhiko! You don't tell Natsuhiko what to fucking do. The only excuse for that is if you're on a killing spree and he decides he doesn't want you to kill somebody, for some lame reason like police investigations or not sabotaging the missions we take even though we don't need the money.

But Yukihiko is arguing with him. He says we're being too hasty. He says we should hear Midou Ban out. He says maybe there's an explanation.

Because he's weak, Yukihiko. But suddenly he's got a backbone. Who does he think he is, standing up to Natsuhiko and telling us we can't do anything about the freak who killed our sister? Like having a friend now means he doesn't have to listen to the rest of us?

But it's true that he's getting stronger, too. He takes over the body almost as often as Natsuhiko does; he interferes with our jobs and helps people and makes them think we're nice.

It makes Natsuhiko angry, and we all know it. How Yukihiko, coward that he is, doesn't cave like a little girl beneath the force of his anger is beyond me. But eventually Natsuhiko's patience will wear out, and we'll finally see who's stronger. Either way, we win. If Natsuhiko can take out Yukihiko even though Yukihiko is strong enough to manifest himself, then we'll know how to take Natsuhiko out. If Yukihiko can overpower Natsuhiko even though Natsuhiko's always been the boss, then it'll be child's play to overpower Yukihiko.

Either way, we win.

I can't wait to see how this will end.

-------

I can't wait to see how this will end. Let my brothers wonder about the eventual outcome of this conflict; I'll just sit back here and mind my own business and smile if they ask me, because I already know how it will end. I just can't wait to see it with our own eyes.

Yukihiko will win. I know it sounds impossible, but little Yukihiko-chan will win. He's got something Natsuhiko doesn't, with Ginji behind him; he's got heart. Natsuhiko's heart is dead. We know that sounds sappy of me, but you can dismiss it as silly Kirara being a darling female again, and I promise not to gloat too much when Yukihiko comes out on top, hmm?

He will win, and it won't do him any good. I can see him now, thinking he's escaped the family quest, and we can see him, standing in an alley with a bloody blade over Midou Ban's corpse, and I can see his fragile little heart breaking into a thousand pieces.

Because he won't be able to escape. Oh, no. You're stuck with us, Yukihiko, even if you do become dominant over Natsuhiko; you won't be able to leave him behind. Even if you get rid of us all, every time you see Midou Ban, you'll think to yourself, "Did he do it? Is he responsible for all our suffering, all our sorrow? Is he lying to me, to Ginji-kun, to everyone?" And eventually you'll give in.

And that will be your downfall, beloved brother.

There'll be a period of distress so extreme when your precious Ginji rejects you, you'll have nothing to do but wander, hopeless. Maybe you'll even give the body back to the rest of us for a while. But I predict that you'll get over that, realize that you like being a whole person, and come to live with yourself.

I don't think he'll give up. He will visit you, of course. If nothing else, he'll want to know why. Ginji-kun will want you to justify yourself, want you to be worthy of forgiveness, even though in his heart he'll mourn his partner.

And every time, you'll find a different answer for him. "Family obligations," you'll say, and then the next time, "He was deceiving you," and then the time after that, "I knew in my heart I'd never be happy as long as he lived." You'll seek endlessly for the answer that will satisfy him, make him understand, break him down and get him to reach out for you and comfort you at long last.

Perhaps we have a very active imagination, but I don't think it's too far from plausible. Perhaps we're simply sadistic, but I think it'll be wonderful, when it happens.

You'll never find the answer, Yukihiko-chan. He'll always turn away from you and leave you alone again. You can scream, and cry, and beg, and he'll leave you, in the end, to return to your silence.

Yes, Yukihiko... That quiet death that we know so well.

I'll publish it quickly, while I still like it. I'm going to try and muster up the courage to post this on [livejournal.com profile] getbackers, too, instead of copping out like I did with the last Miroku piece I wrote. Let's hear it for insecurity!

I really liked that! :D I can't write things like this myself... I try sometimes, but darkness is just not within me. All I have in my soul is melodramatic angst and WAFF. ^^; It's cool to see someone writing Miroku, too... they're such a complex character and all... (haha, literally >_>; I kill me. or not).
