Where GIP is both Gratuitous Icon Post and Game Info Post, mwahaha. Got you for a sec, huh?! Tales of the Abyss is one of those games I wish someone else would play for me. I want to know what happened and I like a lot of the characters (just not Tear) (or Jade half the time, despite GIP) and I kind of want to ship things (come on, fandom, no Guy/Asch?) but I don't want to play it anymore. The world map drives me absofrigginglutely insane, and picking it up now I wouldn't even know where I was supposed to be, so I'd have to start over.

Disgaea is another one of those games, but I'm stuck because the leveling makes me so damn tired and I'm right in front of one of those boards where the enemies jump like five levels on average. I wish someone else could level for me. I really want to know how it ends.

Final Fantasy 12: Revenant Wings - I kind of want Filo to fall off the face of the game right now. I also really, really wish that the developers understood that "strategy" takes time. By the time I think "Okay, this guy is a flying unit. What's good against flying units? Flying is strong against melee, so... ranged is strong against flying. Okay, who has flying units? Llyud!" and then tap on first Kytes (because I tap on Kytes by accident every time I want to select anyone) and then Llyud, the flying unit is already dead, and so are two of my melee units. This is not ideal.

Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions - I want to nitpick a lot of the changes (The Lion War was a better name, fyi) and they added some wacky new failslations (hithertofore! HILARIOUS) but wow, this game is gorgeous. I'm excited. If only I had a memory card.

KOTOR 2: This game is quite interesting if you name the main character "Roxas" and imagine what he would say when presented dialogue options. ...what?

Other things I'm excited for: FF7CC (ZACK I LOVE YOU, ZAAACK) - KH 385/2 and Birth by Sleep (two two two times the Roxas angst!) - Bleach DS 3 (crap that's in January, isn't it)

Non-game things: I'm going to watch Dexter seasons 1 and 2, all three seasons of LOST, and then squeeze in as much of My So-Called Life as I can before going back to work on January 2. The moment I get back to CO. *waits*

Dexter is actually going to start getting on TV soon, IIRC. The writer's strike is making the networks buy shows from Showtime/HBO to air, so Dexter is probably going to start airing on network TV in a few months.

The only thing I can comment on is ToA, which I deeply like, but would also need to start over because of having left it alone for too long. I vaguely remember what I needed to do, however, I'm a little neurotic about games and like to .. be immersed from beginning to end. :/

SO PSYCHED FOR CRISIS CORE THOUGH. F-for the little we get of Aerith, even if they had to make Cloud steal the church-falling too. Not so much for GACKT and WINGED MEN. But. Zack is adorkable.

I really liked most of the characters in Abyss, although I have concluded that Asch destroys my soul with his tragedy. Even having not finished the game, I want Guy/Asch and Asch/Natalia and the fandom just doesn't give me any of it! They're obsessed with Asch/Luke, which doesn't appeal to me all that much (I enjoy their relationship, I just don't think either of them finds ~~looking at themselves in a mirror~~ the other sexy). So, woe.

I am literally right now as I type this about to click New Game and start a new game, despite the aggravating world map and way hyperactive encounter rate. XD

I'm not excited about more Zack/Cloud, because it's another relationship I like better platonic (Zack is like that with everyone, you guys, including nameless NPCs in BC) and I'm not really excited about the plot -- just once in all these sequels I'd like an FF7 game wherein the Planet is not about to self-destruct unless [Hero of the Day] saves everyone.

I am on the other hand excited about CC for the ZACK and the AERITH and the ZACKANDAERITH. XD Hee~ I've loved Zack since the original game, when he had a whole ten lines. XD But he was so obviously a happy ~~competent~~ dork even there, I thought he was awesome.

Agreed. I am also a very big fan of most of the Abyss characters, like, which is pretty unusual for me. I never dislike characters, but I liked these guys. I have similar issues with pairings! Having a huuuuuge girl crush on Natalia, I, I am very interested in Asch/Natalia. I managed to find a crapload of Japanese Fanart? I'm not far enough yet to be all over Guy/Asch, but I'm agreed on Asch's tragedy and not so much seeing the appeal of Luke/Asch.

Zack/Cloud I don't mind -- I've spoiled myself by watching the ending and bla bla bla, but I've never been terribly wild about it, except in regard to Cloud's issues and identity thieving. Plot is also blah, I mean, Gackt. But, I kind of hate the sequels in general with a rabid passion, except, AERITH AND ZACK. I wasn't like ... Like, I thought Aerith had made it clear that while initially she was faking it, she was moving on from Zack. I always thought it was interesting that Zack was almost the hero! I mean in a way he was, period, but.

It is by far the best "dorky" icon I've encountered. X3

Natalia is awesome and I adore her, and

madfnorder had tsking things to say about fixation, WHATEVER, ~~she's no more fixated than Asch obviously secretly is anyway~~ I think it's refreshing to see a character who can recognize and seek to deal with her emotional issues as well as the factual ones. The Asch-Luke thing is a big deal and I like having a character who also feels that way.

My affection for Guy/Asch is much like my affection for Asch/Natalia, only with the added tragedy of Guy's intent to murder him chocked in for flavor: it begins in how much it must utterly suck for Asch to watch all his friends and his family with the replica, and how ~~jealous he is~~ much he lies about not needing them. Asch/Natalia is quite evident, but Guy/Asch is something more complicated and better-hidden.

This is his 'preoccupied' icon. ~~When Asch wears this expression I suspect it's usually connected to Natalia somewhere in his head.~~ THAT IS. MOVE ON, NATALIA. SHEESH. THAT WAS ANCIENT HISTORY.

I've only been icon hunting and I didn't need to go to any Japanese sites, so fanart zomg. But oh man, you'd have to kill yourself at this rate to complete everything. There are two optional dungeons in TotA that can only be accessed on a second playthrough. (The one with Asch among them sfkjgslkfjs.)

Gosh, gee, it's really terrible when characters have flaws right? Because they don't make them interesting or anything? The more flawed the better. It reminds me of ... the, hmm making a big deal of Luke-Asch reminds me of when fandom scorned Orihime for reacting badly to Ichigo in his Hollow mask. IT'S A BIG FUCKING DEAL. It's scary, he was even scared of himself, god forbid she reacts in a human, understandably unsettled way? And needs a moment to adjust?

I feel your pain. This is like 75 hours of my life I will never get back. But they were full of awesome (minus all the many hours involving Tear).

I'm actually -- I might be lying, my game guide swore up and down that Mushroom Road was only accessible on a second playthrough, but I was able to do the entire quest on my first playthrough, so, uh? ANYWAY, it turns out that both of the optional dungeons are accessible if-- wait, this doesn't even make sense?! Okay, so, this doesn't make sense.

I WILL MAKE IT MAKE SENSE

Okay. If for some reason you are unable to do Mushroom Road on your first playthrough -- even though I could! -- you can still do the two optional dungeons on your first playthrough if you have clear data on your card. Since it would be difficult for Asch to join your party and be awesome at Mushroom Road after the horrible unfairness that is his fate on Eldrant, at the beginning of the Eldrant dungeon save in a different slot and keep that save data. Then after you finish the game, save the clear data in a third slot. Now load the data from the beginning of Eldrant and voila, you will now have access to the Replica Facility and Mushroom Road. Asch will join you when you enter it, and if you return to the dungeon after completing the quest, he will be there again for some inexplicable reason to optionally join your party despite his insistences that he doesn't plan on "getting friendly with you people".

God that sounds annoying. I'm glad Asch was just magically more concerned about his mother's health than my lack of clear data.

We can, in appropriate Rude and Reno form, somehow pick up the slack together? :D. Maybe they went for a drink and never came back lololyeah.

So Tear doesn't get any better? I didn't hope too much. If I wasn't loving her by the uhhh hair scene, it wasn't meant to be, but I really tried.

I'm surprised, is it really so popular? I know there's a fanlisting. The little I read indicated that there was something to see, so I guess I'll just see or not see.
