The Return! ...of SECRECY
May. 21st, 2003 01:32 amSo, for those of you who don't live inside my head and therefore don't know why I've fallen off the planet for the last week and more -- har har, I'm sure nobody even noticed -- I have multiple reasons for absences.
Reason A: I moved. The journey from college to closet-sized-room-in-Mom's-house has been completed. Now I'm just sitting on my hands waiting impatiently for grades to roll in... but there's STILL unpacked junk all over the room. It's almost as bad as my sister's room. (Har har, again! That is not humanly possible.) Now I am fully accomodated into this, um, life thing.
Reason B: My computer has, once again, been in California for repairs. Funny story! (I'm a comedian.) I sent in the computer initially in March because it was turning alternately black and pink -- and this was no baby problem, either: radioactive headache-inducing pink for up to 20 minutes at a time, and pitch black that can't be gotten rid of without turning off the computer, is nothing to joke about. They claimed to know what the problem is, so I sent it in. They sent it back after a too-extended absence because they were busy calling me at a different address, telling me that they'd found a minor spill on the keyboard and the repair charge would be $300.
But, it turns out, the repair had nothing to do with my computer, which was still broken. The black had been fixed, but it still went pink. So I sent it back again. And the very same day they got the package, they shipped it again. I don't need to say how suspicious such prompt customer service was even before I got it back and ZERO still had problems -- now, instead of being pink, it went black again.
This time I spoke very politely but firmly to the guy on the phone, and he dug up all my files, and realized that engineering had totally ignored what they said my problem was all along. The first time they assumed that the problem was caused by the spill and disregarded the fact that support said I needed the display replaced. The second time they assumed that the problem was because they'd forgotten a piece of the prior repair, and once again ignored the replacement order.
Now, presumably, they've actually fixed my problem. We'll see about that.
Reason C: I have been Searching for Jobs. I have an interview with the local NYPIRG office tomorrow... If I get this job, it'll be full-time Monday thru Friday, from 2 PM to 10 PM. Best schedule ever. I can still stay up late to talk to friends, and sleep in rather than wake up early.
On a more personal note, I have come up with a new original idea I adore, and I am within sentences of having finished the Planet Ladder page. Well, as finished as it's going to be for its opening. Huzzah!
