Further Irrelevancies from Kay
Feb. 27th, 2004 12:21 amI've been replaying FF6, because I have lots of free time and happen to have the Japanese version and need to work on my Japanese somehow. I have rediscovered my love for it. I mean serious love.
For some reason, what seems a bit stilted in the English version seems so much more natural and lovable in the Japanese. I suspect I would find Locke's promise to Tina/Terra, or Edgar's failure to flirt ("...watashi no kudoki no technique mo sabitsuita ka na...?") a little forced in the English after all this time, but it's still fresh and shiny in the Japanese.
Maybe I'm just a loser, but I do love them.
Tomorrow I'm going to a Japanese elementary school at 9am. The day after -- a SATURDAY -- I'm going to a peace museum with my history class, also at 9am. Goddamnit, what's up with all this early crap?
(Edit, because it's too great a quote to leave out: "Edgar-sama wa jousei ga suki de irassharu. Obaasan kara kodomo made donna onna no hito demo kudoku no yo." Edgar, that's kind of horrible, but I love you too much to care that you try in apparent earnest to seduce old women and small children.)
