I should be shot or lobotomized or something, I need to stop having ideas. Or, at least, stop having irrelevant bits of ideas. Every time I'm happy with my current ideas along comes some other random facet, little more than a fragment, that wants to have an idea. I don't have the energy to develop all these ideas damnit! I don't even have the energy to follow up on the ideas I already have.

Although I have several facets all of a sudden (ie, random interest in a couple who are completely unaffectionate and platonic outside of bed) my loudest current thing-that-wants-an-idea is this vague thought that the Romantic Dream is a good woman pining after a dark, dangerous man who is somehow invulnerable to emotion. She is always pining pining for love of him; he usually seems inscrutable and unaffected by love of her until she Tames him and makes him Hers.

So, I kill it. And thus I developed a half-thing, with a man on the side of the proverbial angels, something of a hunter of Bad People. Then there's a woman who may or may not be borderline insane, but whether or not she is insane, she is abusing her Power, and thus he is obliged to hunt her down and, in theory, kill her.

But he falls in love with her -- probably not instantly, but quickly, perhaps before he realizes she's his target -- and he can't bring himself to do it, and she keeps taking advantage of his weakness to escape him again and again. She may or may not care about him in return. I think she finds his chasing of her to be amusing, if not outright pleasing.

I guess I want to see the strong independent man pine for a woman, as opposed to a desperate pathetic man who hasn't another prayer for a woman? Like a mutant Jillia-Gina attitude going on here. I don't know.

The problem here is that it's almost certainly an independent story. They aren't going to be a subplot or anything; they lend themselves to being main characters. That's why I should be shot.
