I have three thoughts for the day.

First, while I do have mad Japanese translational skillz, I wish they were better. I am elite, but not quite as elite as I ought to be. Damn you Azuma, and your deliberate attempts at confusing the reader!

Secondly, it pisses me off when webcomic creators tell me, the reader, to "god forbid, go outside or something" when they're taking a hiatus or missing a few days. A lot of them do this, and some of them are serious/pissy about it, others are just kidding, but in the end it pisses me off. Why would you say this? How would you like it if all your readers obeyed your instructions, went outside, discovered a miraculous world they'd never known before, and never read your webcomic again? Respect the fact that you only HAVE readers because of the tremendously geeky population like me who would rather be following your comic than going outside. You're allowed to take time off if you need to, I respect that, but you're not allowed to act like the way I choose to spend my time is subadequate. Don't act all condescending, I'm doing you a favor by reading your comic and potentially paying for your webspace and buying your merchandise.

Um, yeah, I'm pissy for no reason this month? Or maybe for a reason, since I still have no job and it's getting to mid-June.

And finally, this is my new favorite quote ever: "The G.O.P. has come up with statistics that reveal that the more often you attend a house of worship, the more likely you are to vote Republican. In a related story, statistics show that the more often you attend a house of pancakes, the more likely you are to eat syrup."

It's been commented before that in the Harry Potter movies, a lot of Hedwig was downplayed. That owl is supposed to be very precious to Harry, almost as much of a friend to him as Ron and Hermione, the greatest constant in his life, especially that first year, and she's more or less ignored. I've read reviews where this was bitter-ed about, and, to a degree, I agree.

I'm listening to the Azkaban soundtrack, and the first track -- the core theme, the music that instantly makes people think Harry Potter! when you hear it on a commercial these days -- is called "Lumos (Hedwig's Theme)". For some reason, not only does that make me feel better about Hedwig, but it actually fills me with warmfuzzy, possibly to tears.

Wow, I'm such a girl some days. I don't even have hormones as an excuse.

Today I was watching Detective Conan (not Case Closed, which is not so bad now that I'm getting used to it) and I can't tell you how gleeful I got watching all the brilliant geniuses at work outsmarting and outplotting each other. I meditated for a while on why any "phantom thief" is more or less automatically cool, as the Kaitou Kid worked his magic and I was duly impressed. The Kaitou Kid is at least as cool as Dark Mousy, if not cooler.

And I was nearly bouncing when Heiji and Conan kept coming up on top of him at every turn, the rapidfire hint-realization-clue-decision-action-justasecondbehind of it all, the detective legends always a liiiittle bit too late for the master magician-cum-thief. I guess there's something about motivated geniuses.

Bailey, why can't you be motivated?

To be fair, I think that you also need to have charm. The Kaitou Kid is just slick when he encounters unexpected opposition. (I almost swooned when he was so charmingly flirtatious with the eight-year-old girl who found him hiding out on her balcony; I can totally understand why she idolized him.) I also think I really need to stop posting...

(Randomly: Toby is going to be the best grandfather who ever terrorized grandkids. XD )
