An Amused Observation
Jul. 14th, 2004 07:00 pmI've noticed that a lot of people on my friends list lately have been participating in what I believe can only be termed anti-fandom wank. They don't like so-called fandoms, they don't like the fans in the fandoms, neither the crazed outrageous ones who indulge in fan-stupidity, nor the passionately defensive ones who seem to believe that everyone else is a bad fan.
And they're downright scathing, and constantly mocking or badgering "fandom," again and again informing us that fandom is stupid and pointing out fan-fallacies and just generally reminding us constantly that their fandom preference is no fandom at all because fandom is full of stupid.
Does that make these people wankers as much as the fandom wankers? Anti-fandom wankers, perhaps? I need someone more acquainted with the terminology to enlighten me; I confess my definition of fandom wank, and therefore anti-fandom wank, is a bit unpolished.
If so, I'm terribly amused. XD
