For my Modern Publishing class, we have a semester-long project: find a book originally published before 1980, discover as many details as are humanly possible about its original publication, and then sort of "re-market" it for publication today as if it were being published for the first time.

I chose to do "The Little Prince" and I almost wonder if it's a mistake.

I honestly can't do or think anything about this book without tears coming to my eyes. Every time I see an article or information for it (or the author) I just tear up. I'm in class right now and I can hardly see because I pulled up a PDF of a print ad in the New York Times published in 1943. I'm going to give two presentations on this thing while crying.

The author must have been an amazing man to know. Everything I've read makes him sound perfectly like the kind of wishful beautiful thinker that the little prince is.

I'm such a dork.
