Lucky!! Who doesn't like surprises?
Jul. 9th, 2008 10:59 amThe taxi picked me up a half-hour early to get to the airport; then they were forty minutes late boarding the airplane, and then we spent two hours sitting on the tarmac waiting to be allowed to take off. I was traveling for literally close to twelve hours (left the house at 5PM EST, arrived at my house at 4:15PM EST).
Then, to make matters worse, I had an aisle all to myself, but the two people in the next aisle were jealous of the extra footroom that I paid extra for and so they just... moved on over and took up the entire rest of the aisle. I hated everyone for a while there.
But I had this Lorna Doones package on the way to NY, and I haven't had those in years but they were quite good, so I asked for them on the way back, too. The woman said, "We don't bring those out this early in the flight, but I can look for them for you." Then she didn't come back. But then a million years later when we were about to go into our final descent, she comes back looking for garbage and I asked, "Lorna Doones?" and she said she doesn't think they normally distribute those on these flights, and anyway she couldn't find them. But then just as we started to really make our descent, she ran over with two packages of Lorna Doones and pressed them into my hand and then ran back to get seated.
Somehow, that made me feel better about the whole ridiculous trip.
And it feels so damn good to be home sldkfjslf
