Moon madness? Still waiting for Hellboy!

Peter Jackson approached Guillermo del Toro to direct Halo (2009), and even though del Toro considered it, he turned the offer down so he could direct this sequel. Also, Del Toro turned down I Am Legend (2007), One Missed Call (2008), and Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (2008) for the same reason.

...del Toro is either really confident in Hellboy, really attached to the franchise, or stone cold crazy. I mean -- a Harry Potter movie? For Hellboy? Did it really kick that much ass in the box office? Whatever the case, keep rocking, sir.

Must -- resist the urge to read Hellboy comics -- until after I've met my wordcount on the Dragon/Ambassador story.

ALSO LOL HI NEW FRIENDS. Umm, look, I'm totally awesome, I... I am this cool:

And that's pretty damn cool, evidently.

I got nothing.

Maybe he just really, really, really liked the Hellboy script. Or maybe he was smoking something, which is a lot more likely. I mean, what. It must be nice to be able to turn down those jobs!

That seems to be the case? (According to Wikipedia, when the Hellboy sequel was resurrected, he dropped negotiations on the Halo project to go back, and they cite him saying "artistic and personal reasons".)

But seriously, that guy's balls are huuuge. Turned down Harry Potter! Halo! He must really goddamn love Hellboy.

As much as I do.

Well, in his defense, people will go see movies just because he directed them. Even if they think they're going to hate them. He may have a point in that regard; it's the whole "bigger than Jesus" thing. If you know that people will go see what you do regardless of what it is you make The Happening, thanks, M. Night, I still think it would have made a better comedy if everyone involved had agreed it was comedy you take the projects you want and leave the others behind.

I'm a little nervous, myself, about HB opening right before Batman Begins. I desperately want HB to be epic, but I'm worried it'll get totally dwarfed by a Batman movie, or worse, "that movie Ledger died filming". Maybe the bigger than Jesus thing will draw in the crowds?

Definitely seeing Hellboy on opening night, though. XD As a tribute to del Toro's strange love affair. Yeah, M. Night definitely has some of that going on.

Hellboy looks like awesome with a side of awesomesauce, I admit. Though I also want to see Loaded now that I know that it doesn't take itself seriously; a shameless boomfest is fun every once in a while.
