The cat saved! A happy ending

The cat came home!!

Okay, he didn't really. After days of nail-biting and calling the humane society and checking with the highway department and running in circles, we finally spent like $20 printing out reaaaally nice flyers to distribute and show people and hang around town, complete with color pictures. Today we finally fought off the pressure of all the other things we were supposed to be doing, and went out to go door-to-door and ask people if they'd seen him.

I don't have much hope about this method, we kept reading pamphlets from the humane society warning that cats can wander up to ten miles from where they were found, and after a week...? He could've gotten pretty far.

About a block and a half down, some guy squints at the picture and is like, "Ohh, yeah. Male cat? Very friendly?"

And I'm like, "Uh, YES."

And he's all, "Kathy down the block has been feeding him! She was looking for whoever he belonged to."

sdlfkjsdlg so we rush over to Kathy's and I notice that there's an empty food dish and a water dish near the door, so it's the right house, even though she's not home, and as we're talking we hear plaintive meowing

So there's my cat, just huddling under this bush, staring at us and meowing.

We have collected him and brought him home, and he immediately proceeded to flop over and own the place just like he was never gone. ♥

And the cat was all "What took you so long to find me? I thought I had you trained better than this!"

Glad to hear he's back home. Yeah for found kitty!

Yeah, he's a loser. The funny thing is that in his absence, the shy cat suddenly got really loud and bossy and was in our faces all the time, whereas typically he's all meek and huddled and hiding. The moment we find Ela, shycat is back to lurking in corners, only speaking up at mealtimes...
