Politics as usual?! Death threat on the White House lawn!

I apologize, but I'm going to talk politics for a moment. The McCain campaign disgusts me so much that I just have to get this out there. I am so incredibly angry right now.

And frankly, whether or not you like my candidate, this should not be tolerated. You should be angry, too.

Obama makes a cool-as-cucumber analysis of people cheering for his murder at McCain rallies. The McCain campaign says these people are "regular people" with "issues they care about" and Obama just doesn't understand them. That's why he's ATTACKING THEM.

Listen, you outrageous assholes. Attacking is that thing you do when you go at someone with a knife or a gun. It's that thing that your supporters want to do to Obama. Obama did not attack your supporters, he attacked you for allowing it to happen, and here you go defending them again. Those are not regular people. Murdering a politician isn't an issue. You cannot defend this, or blame it on Obama. Nobody yells "Kill him" at an Obama rally. NOBODY. With a 9% chance of getting elected in a few weeks, you need to prepare your base for the reality of defeat. You need to stop pretending that shouting "KILL HIM!" at a political rally is okay.

It is not fucking okay.

Tell those ignorant imbeciles that death threats are not appropriate. That Obama is not a terrorist, he will not be bad for this country, and that no one should kill him. This is not a speech that can wait for when you lose on election day.

Be a goddamn man, McCain. Show some fucking humanity. Tell your base to stop frothing at the mouth. Don't act like death threats are acceptable political views. A lynch mob isn't going to help you win the election.

...Are you kidding me? I'm pretty fucking speechless right now. WTF.

I can't believe the incredible amount of bullshit you have to be full of to respond to "The McCain campaign is riling those people up" with "STOP ATTACKING AVERAGE AMERICANS WHO JUST WANT TO KILL YOU"

Wow you're really angry about this, (so am I!) say your link at ontd_political. American Politics seems so ridiculous its almost a parody of itself. :/

I can't believe anyone can defend death threats. It just makes my head want to explode.

I posted it there because I didn't recall seeing it yesterday (when the source post I used went up) but I guess it was posted and I just missed it somehow, or... forgot about it in all the other stupid shit that was going on. XD

God, I know. I know. The whole thing just makes me sick.

I can't wait for this election to be over. It's just -- I remember when people used to respect McCain! I used to respect him! It feels so long ago. :\

[identity profile] lady-zip.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 05:06 pm (UTC)(link)
God McCain scares me. >_<

Are his chances really getting that slim though? I've been terrified that his shot at presidency was way better than that. @_@

To make yourself feel better about McCain dickery at any time in the next few weeks, check out this website: 538 (http://www.fivethirtyeight.com/)

They take polls and weigh them mathematically and then do election projections from there. Look at the pie charts on the left. There is a 90.9% chance that if the elections were held today, Obama would win, and with the popular vote. Look at the scenario analysis chart on the right. There is a 36% chance that if the elections were held today, Obama would win in a landslide.

And now I feel better already. :D I check this website daily to watch Obama's numbers go up, and up, and up...

... you have just given me GREAT comfort. =) Thank you very much. *LOVES*

[identity profile] hauntedreality.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, he lost major respect points for this. It's sad when he is clinging to the crazy vote.

Go out with some damn dignity. :\ If you're going to go down, try not to go down in FLAMES.

[identity profile] hauntedreality.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
There is still time before it is all over and done. I hope it turns out like current polls!

Meanwhile I know nothing about any other thing on the ballot...

[identity profile] scuttling.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 06:50 pm (UTC)(link)
... Jesus fucking Christ. How the hell is he allowing this to happen. How the hell can he not see this as sinking to an incredible low?

Oh my god, I can't even think straight about this.

[identity profile] kay-willow.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 09:47 pm (UTC)(link)
It's just outrageous. Put the country first, the way you say you do. Don't do this thing where then tens of thousands of people are riled up to the point where they would rather see someone die than get into office. WTF is wrong with you.

[identity profile] scuttling.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 04:05 am (UTC)(link)
McCain's acting like more of a douchebag than ever, and douchebag is a serious understatement. I just ... the fuck.

[identity profile] voicing.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 09:32 pm (UTC)(link)
McCain finally had to (politely) tell his supporters to back off, but with Palin practically supporting the lynch mob idea, I'm willing to bet that's never going to happen.

This whole campaign scares me. Have you been hearing about Palin's rape case controversy? I don't care if she knew this was happening or not: why this is not a bigger issue, I do not kno--oh, that's right. Women are worthless slaves whose issues are unimportant. *rolls eyes*

[identity profile] kay-willow.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 09:52 pm (UTC)(link)
He said that, but after a day when he let his campaign run wild saying that ridiculous shit. How could he not have had some say in that? How could he have been anything other than, "Oh, oh, look at what my campaign is saying, BAD campaign, *shifty eyes*" And today a civil rights activist -- a man McCain said he'd take as an advisor because the man is that respected -- said that he was inciting a hateful atmosphere, and McCain's response was, HOW DARE YOU. SUCH SLANDER. I FEEL FAINT FROM THIS BLACKGUARD'S ACCUSATION.

His level of sincerity on this issue is LESS than zero.

But Palin, I just have no respect for. That part especially, I hate hate hate that. Charging women for rape kits... Fuck you. Seriously. You have no soul.

[identity profile] jade-fragment.livejournal.com 2008-10-11 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
I officially: 1) Hate McCain and everything he stands for, and 2)Am fucking petrified of what will happen if he wins the election. I swear to god I will move to Canada because I cannot possibly STAY HERE and let morons, self-righteous republicans and lying, cheating, DISRESPECTFUL and DISHONORABLE people run this country.

That's what really pisses me off. Obama has been nothing but respectful throughout this whole campaign, and McCain does nothing but slander as much as he can, but he's all "oohh look at me I was a POW I'm an honorable person and lalala I should be president look at me!"

And fucking Palin. Don't even get me started. Worst combination to be in the white house EVER.

I'm a little less angry at McCain now. (Two things I heard he did: He got angry at a rally when he was booed for calling Obama a decent man, and he took the microphone from an idiot voter who was saying that Obama was an Arab to tell her she was wrong. It's too little too late, but it's something.) I don't hate him quite so much, but I do not do not do not want to live in his country, and if by some catastrophe he manages to get elected, I am very serious in saying that when my lease is up in August, I will be looking into moving to Canada. (Cold Quebec is cold, but nearer my family; Vancouver is awesome, but even further from my family, so...)

But Palin. That woman is the goddamn devil. She renders me speechless.

[identity profile] slayerofgod.livejournal.com 2008-10-12 03:09 am (UTC)(link)
You know, now my joking recommendation that the Republicans nominate Light Yagami doesn't seem so out there anymore, and that scares me on a very deep level.

McCain can backpedal all the way to election day, and it won't make this okay, nor should it.
