Generic Update
Things that I like:
Planet Ladder. Yesssss, precious. I'm about a third of the way through volume 6, and halfway through volume 1. Both are at a good stopping point. It's time to update Time Circuit at long last!
Cowboy Bebop. I've given in. I'm still not wild about it, but... sigh. When you watch something every night while the TV is playing background noise...
Howard Dean not getting Iowa. Because damnit, that man is just smug and I don't like him for some reason. It's a shame about Kucinich, because he seems like a real nice guy, but I like both Kerry and Edwards (and Clark!) so I'm pleased that they kicked Dean's behind.
Dark Horse's English release of the Hellsing manga. "Without nobility, conviction, or rationale. You can't transform into mist, or bats -- you can't even recover from the wounds you take. You kill women and children when you don't even need to feed. And lastly... You can't even fight once the bullets run out. Yet you still think you can be Nosferatu?! WHAT A DISGRACE!!" Alucard is the evil!vampire love, period. I also appreciate "Sir Integra", and no iffy "Miss Integra" or anything -- don't even get me started on how much better "Alucard" is than "Arucard".
Peter Pan. I'm only ten minutes into the movie, but already I can appreciate it in a way that I didn't know Peter Pan could be appreciated in. After all, the only time I've seen the story told before, Peter was played by a flatchested 35-year-old woman -- and right there, you lose a very important part of the story.
Short dentist appointments. This is the shortest one I've ever had. I don't know why. Possibly because John took me instead of my mom, and he sat in the lobby whereas she always sat at the end of the chair and waited. This lack of protection may have made my poor dentist feel unsafe, because he KNOWS I have a phobia of dentists and may wind up punching him if I get too panicky. He didn't even do the flouride treatment, and he always does the flouride treatment... It took half the time it usually did.
Things I don't like:
Dentist appointments, period. Brr. My teeth feel oversensitive and my gums ache, and I almost choked once because my mouth was full of blood from the paaaaainful flossing. Just give ME the floss! I won't jam it into sensitive flesh like that!
Martin Luther King Day. I don't dislike the day, just the timing. What are they thinking, putting a federal holiday in the middle of the month like that? Don't they know people need their mail? I'm waiting for my GBA cheat device and my overtheshoulder bag and my FRIGGING VISA I LEAVE ON SUNDAY YOU KNOW AAAARGH.
George Bush. ANYONE BUT HIM IN 2005. PLEASE.
Voice actor incest. I've been watching Adult Swim late at night, as is obvious from the Cowboy Bebop acclaim, and I LOATHE American voice actors. Kagome constantly sounds like a shrewish harridan -- literally everything she says, including, "Whoa! He has a jewel shards in each of his legs!" sounds like a shrill complaint. And need I tell you how disconcerting it is to go from Cowboy Bebop to The Big O and hear what sounds like the same voice actors playing as many as four different roles between the two shows? Is it just me, or are there twenty voice actors in all the USA? It wouldn't be so bad if they didn't all sound exactly the same in every role...

Yuki's voice actor is the same person who does Kurama in their Yu Yu Hakusho dub. It offends my sensibilites beyond quantitative measure. THe rest of the cast is equally pain. Even the redubbed opening is pain. Stupid dub. They should release Less Special additions of things they dont' want to redub- release the discs early for the hardcore, and cheaper too. *nods*
