They were in bed. Ikkaku was still shivering, still unguarded and blissful.
Yumichika stroked long fingers over his lover's smooth scalp and said, "Why haven't you ever called me beautiful?"
"Fuck," Ikkaku replied eloquently into his shoulder. "Don't -- ask shit like that -- right now."
"I know I am," Yumichika went on, and worked a thumb behind the other man's ear, rubbing gently. "But you never say it."
Ikkaku softened against him, almost purring, but then twisted free of the manipulative touch. "You're pretty," he agreed. "But the beauty's in your fighting stance."
Yumichika smiled, slightly surprised, and pulled his lover down for a soft kiss.
Remus took a long drag of his cigarette and thought about putting it out, going back to the party, enjoying himself like everyone else. He was nothing but ecstatic for James and Lily, but babies weren't really his thing -- never really would be his thing, he thought. God forbid he should be responsible for the welfare of a child when he could barely guarantee the welfare of anyone around him.
The moon was waxing.
Behind him, the door opened, possibly someone else coming out to take a smoke. "I don't want company," he told whoever it was, feeling tired and much older than he should have.
There was silence for a moment, and then whoever it was came out anyway and quickly walked off the porch to the side. Remus turned his attention back to the stars, resting his elbows on his knees.
A minute passed in solitude before he heard it: soft, padding footsteps that made him smile in spite of himself. Much to his lack of surprise, an immense black dog ambled out of the darkness and sat practically on his shoe.
"Bastard," he said fondly. "I said I didn't want company." Then Sirius placed his enormous head on his knee and looked up at him with soulful eyes, and Remus relented enough to scratch behind his ears.
