A new method! The behaviorist cometh
Behavioral Recommendations: Cat R
Reccomended shops: Cat Connection, Only Natural Pet, Blue Hills (Longmont only)
Feeding - Switch to wet/raw food, such as Bravo. Dry food is empty carbs for cats and R will never lose weight on it and he'll usually be hungry for more.
Guide here. Start slowly, half a 3oz can per cat as a treat after playtime, and ONLY after playtime. After circa two weeks, switch one of their meals to wet food. Then switch them entirely to wet food.
Litter - R. needs to be able to see everything outside of the litter box. Put hateful things in the areas he pees in, like pointy mats or tin foil, and cram in as many liter boxes as we can in the rest of the space. Make them WIDE litter boxes, with minimal line-of-sight blocking, and find out which does he like better.
Clean - "Pet-tastic" (or "Get Serious") cleaning products to get the scent out. Do noooot use Nature's Miracle, it is junk. Scents that are helpful in relaxing include Jackson's brand "Spirit Essences".
Playing - Play therapy. Play with the cat until they start to pant. Use strings, and when he's victorious and attempts to drag off his spoils, give him a wet food treat..
Recommended toys are "Dabird" (wand - try to buy in a store instead of online) and "Cat Catcher".
Room - Socialize the rooms. Once the bedrooms are CLEAN, then play with him on the bed, reward him on the bed.
Get cat beds or cat condos etc. "Kitty sill?" The more comfy sleepy things around that have his scent on it, the less likely he is to pee on random things. Peeing, when not intended as a punishment, is an attempt to mix his scent with yours. If you can do that in a more positive way, he won't want to pee on beds etc.
