Bleach 349

I might be calling it too soon, but:

Now: The last pages of The Lust 3 (lol spoiler alert)
Then: Ichigo fighting the Vizards

I'm just saying that Ichigo's random two feet of hair might not be totally random. It's happened once before, and it has rather conspicuous timing. It's when he was fighting his Hollow inside, and the Vizards were fighting his Hollow outside.

So, to theorize, Ichigo having apparently died here, could now be awakening as a true Hollow. This could obviously pose a huge big problem for Orihime and Ishida, because Hollow instincts will drive him to try to kill her or both of them. But, more importantly, Hollow!Ichigo could stand up to Ulquiorra; could, in fact, become an Arrancar, since we know that Hollow don't need Aizen's power or the power of the Hougyoku to become Arrancar. The current Espada are mostly Hougyoku-and-Aizen-created, but the old Espada (the Privaron) (and Aaroniero) are Hollow who managed, naturally, to ditch their masks and become part shinigami.

We may wind up seeing another Ichigo v Hollow!Ichigo duel, this time finished, since we never did reach a real conclusion: Ichigo never really did defeat his Hollow, only managed to get it to retreat for a short while and bide its time. Is that how it works, with Vizard? Maybe, who can say. But it isn't resolved yet.

I'd also like to see everyone have to fight Hollow!Ichigo. Ideally he would kick Ulquiorra's ass and then the good guys have to fight him (the way the Vizard did) while he struggles to regain self-control. But this is just whimsy.

At any rate: those two Ichigos look alike. We may be in for some rough times! That'd be fun. :D

Oh, thank you! I'd completely forgotten that he had once grown all that hair.

Very interesting. Here's hoping for that, absolutely.

... And evidently, as I share your comment with like, people... I realize I'm the only one who didn't make that connection.

GOSH IT HURTS TO BE SO DUMB.

Don't worry! You're dumb and I'm lonely, I had no idea whether or not anyone on the internet was aware of this because I have no frands. :( I only had one person to talk to about it and she didn't notice...!! Then again, she hadn't read the chapter yet either, when I talked to her about it, so.

[identity profile] scuttling.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 08:47 am (UTC)(link)
D: Must get frands, frands good. Especially ones that can validate your theories! Of course, the other folks didn't word it as eloquently as you, with picture proof! Well, then I suppose it can't be help against her, since she hadn't read it yet. ;P

Of course, I'd thought, "Well, Ishida can't die, because Ichigo got to come right back!" .. But he didn't, he went hollowthing. *snaps*

[identity profile] jikeidannin.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 01:31 pm (UTC)(link)
I didn't remember the long hair thing, either, honestly. I did think it had something to do with his Hollow, but I really didn't remember him getting longer.

It might even give Zaraki the fight he's been looking for all his life!

He'd never forgive the main cast if they dealt with it without him. :( *stalks ichigo forevar*

I don't know what's worse. Seeing Orihime in such despair, or knowing that over half of fandom is disparaging her for it. D:
ext_52683: (Default)

[identity profile] kay-willow.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
And that's why I wasn't aware if everyone and their brother had already come to this conclusion; because I think fandom is full of asshats who are quick to judge everything arbitrarily. I think you'd be panicking and upset in that situation too, jackasses.

[identity profile] hashire.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 10:56 pm (UTC)(link)
I can't deny that I wouldn't be freaking out over Itsygo in that situation, lol, because he's ITSYGO after all, but, to me, it's less her reaction to this than it is the fact that she hasn't done anything other than stand around and watch everything happening lately. What happened to the 'Hime who slapped Ulquiorra? Did her outfit sap her spunk? Because I want her to be awesome and I want to love her again, but she seriously has been nothing nothing other than standing off to the side, almost getting raped by Loly and Menoly, holding her boobs up, and just . . . watching. I want her to do something so I can love her again, but it's up to KT, I guess, and he likes to draw big boobs and have Itsygo get powerups and shit.

[identity profile] slayerofgod.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
I don't mind that. I agree that it would be nice if she could do more than protect Ichigo once and have him tell her to stay out of it. Someone having an intelligent and reasonable complaint with that is not what I have a problem with.

My problem is the people who denigrate her feelings and her character over it, calling her childish insults and screeching in all caps about how pathetic she is, often dedicating entire LJ entries to such nonsense.

The kicker is many of these people adore Rukia, who as I recall didn't fight and beat anybody until the Hueco Mundo arc. Prior to that she sat around and watched Ichigo fight, and then sat around and angsted a lot, yet somehow it was more awesome when she did it.

[identity profile] hashire.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 05:35 am (UTC)(link)
When you pointed it out about Rukia, I realized that you're right about that, haha. But with Orihime, we've seen her be awesome and do awesome stuff, but she suddenly turned so . . . passive. Hopefully she'll be able to wake up more once Itsygo goes so batshit hollow and do more stuff, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The pointless Orihime hate is something I don't like, especially since my best friend doesn't like her and I'm always trying to defend her :I.

[identity profile] amorphic.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 11:56 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, I would love to see another Ichigo vs. Shirosaki fight. I hope he doesn't become a Hollow/Arrancar though, that kinda throws a spanner in the works.

And poor Orihime, she has to deal with Ichigo maybe being dead, as well as the backlash for her reaction to it =(

[identity profile] kay-willow.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 05:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I don't think it's too big a deal. The Arrancar obey Aizen because they're afraid and he doesn't know fear; Ichigo isn't afraid so he might not feel the same compulsion. It'd probably be sad for him, but the Arrancar seem to be getting along just fine and not crying about how empty they are inside etc, so it could be okay! XD

Or they could deus ex machina it and fix him after the fact.

[identity profile] jikeidannin.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 01:29 pm (UTC)(link)
You know, I forgot about the hair, too.

I'm praying we get more Hollow Ichigo, though - because that fight really was unfinished. And H!Ichigo said at the end of it that he'd be there if Ichigo fell, and would take the reins for himself.

I hadn't thought about him becoming an Arrancar, but there is no way in hell anyone is taking Ulqui out otherwise. I love Ishida and his badassery, but he doesn't stand a chance. He knows he doesn't, and keeps going, which I love him for - but H!Ichigo's probably the only shot they've got.

Then they'd all have to fight him too. Which would honestly make for some great plot - and great Ishida snark, too. He'd handle it with his usual attitude. I've wanted Ishida to meet H!Ichigo for a long time. MAYBE I WILL GET MY WISH?

You brought up some interesting points, and made me more interested in next week's chapter than I was. I was kind of "meh" before.

So thanks!

[identity profile] kay-willow.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 05:41 pm (UTC)(link)
Yeah, Arrancar!Ichigo is what makes me think this plot twist is plausible; as an Arrancar OF COURSE he'll have Espada-level powaaz because he's the shounen hero, so he'll have a chance to take down Ulquiorra. Otherwise lol we're gonna need some captains up in here, Mayuri, Kenpachi, Unohana, Byakuya, you lazy bitches.

But yes, the fight was completely and utterly undecided. It just ended with the Hollow saying, you win for now, but I'm waiting, buddy. You'll weaken sometime, and then I'll be there, bwahaha. That is what we call a loose end. XD Perfect for future plot twists such as this one.

Ishida/Hollow Ichigo snark would be epic. Do want.

[identity profile] jikeidannin.livejournal.com 2009-03-14 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that Ishida vs. H!Ichigo would be full of snark and awesome. I WANT IT TO HAPPEN, I REALLY DO.

I miss when BLEACH wasn't meh for me. :\

Ichigo didn't finish his Visored training. He left for HM before he could finish subduing his Hollow with the Visored. Now like in all good shounen he's going to get some field experience. I expect an inner battle. And some rough times ahead for poor Orihime.

Fucking amazing chapter, so beautifully drawn.

[identity profile] kay-willow.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 05:59 pm (UTC)(link)
I know he didn't finish his training with them, but as far as I know, the training he didn't finish was just duration training. No one ever spoke to him about how he needed to win over his Hollow or defeat his Hollow permanently, and as far as we know he never "saw" his Hollow again. Everything that happened/that they talked about in his training after that point was just "How long can you hold onto the mask? That's pathetic. We're going to hit you until you can use the mask again and see if you can hold onto it longer this time." It's possible that the duration training was "how long can you subdue your Hollow", but I think that if it was literally a battle between Ichigo and his Hollow, when the mask failed, Ichigo himself would falter enough that the Hollow would surge forward and try to eat him. He wouldn't be able to just stagger and try again.

But I agree that we're going there, we might and should have another inner battle, and slkfjdfg Orihime probably having more angst. And eventually getting over it and using her powers to save the world somehow, because we all know she's building up to it. (AND PUTTING ISHIDA'S HAND BACK ON WHILE SHE'S AT IT PLEASE skfjsfs he needs that to sew! :( )

! I hadn't thought of Ichigo being able to become an Arrancar while in his Hollow form... That could be VERY interesting... Wonder what Neliel would think of that...

[identity profile] hallmark.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 07:27 pm (UTC)(link)
I always forget.. I can't edit my comments alkdalkds

The whole thing with the hair immediately reminded me of Grimmjow's nasty pantera hair, which leads me to the question WHERE THE HELL IS GRIMMJOW? Poor guy. He's like the Espada!Chad, knocked down and never to be seen again for a hundred chapters.

buuut I'm waiting to see how things will pan out :) what I'm really continuing to read for is Orihime's development, even if it really feels like whatever happens with her / whatever she does will just be used to further Ichigo's power-up or whatever. Which would be okay if I didn't feel like she got shafted (in terms of.. situation and development) the entire time in HM.

[identity profile] draw-every-day.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 08:28 pm (UTC)(link)
I am super psyched about the return of his hollow!mullet in canon. See icon. :3

I'm also hoping hoping hoping that Orihime's going to have some glorious shining tsubaki-firing moment, though; healing is good, but I think if she gets a turnaround in her character, fighting back is going to need to be incorporated somehow.

[identity profile] okroginator.livejournal.com 2009-03-13 11:24 pm (UTC)(link)
I agree. I spotted that right away, and I think that this might be what's happening.

*glees for something interesting happening at last*
