April fool's on you? Virus carnival!

I attempted to cheat and steal a paid version of a certain multimedia program, and it turned out to be loaded with viruses. My evening has been awesome. I guess cheaters really don't win. :(

So I've been in safe mode backing up for like four hours, and on attempting to restart, I discover that my computer does not start outside of safe mode. It can't go online in safe mode either, I have to start it in Safe Mode With Network Drivers.

Posted hiatuses at Marina and WL, the former being especially a shame since Lelouch needs to make a post and Sentience did just post lfkdjlg. Yeah. I'm debating between System Restore (because, fuck, easy is better) and downgrading to a less stupid version of Windows (because Vista is annoying me with all its administrator privilege BS).

Edit: Man, it seems like it uninstalled Windows Defender Checkpoint. That sounds bad!

Edit: Looks like System Restore worked. I was able to get out the virus and everything seems to be happy. Hooray. *passes out*

Oh, boo! Viruses suck and I hate having to try to fix my computer. At least everything worked out in the end =)

Vista annoys me with all the administrator crap, too, but I suppose it's their attempt to reduce the amount of spyware and viruses that can get in...

Yeah, and look at all the good it did. It didn't ask me if I wanted Backdoor.Vundo.whatever to uninstall Windows Defender Checkpoint and disable Windows Security, but apparently I did. Meanwhile, every fucking time Java has an update available, a giant window pops up over whatever I'm typing that dims my entire desktop (or, my favorite, when it doesn't actually pop up, just pops up in the background, so I don't even know it has kidnapped half my computer), and every time I want to run a program and don't think to right-click and Run As Administrator, it crashes. Excellent work, Microsoft.

Sob but at least it's working now.
