So I was awake last night when the new chapter came out, but I spent too long flailing about it everywhere else to write up an entry about my reactions. But now you can enjoy my reactions per page and the completely unfounded logicks I produce to try to explain things!
page 5. God the amount of pain that Allen endures just on a regular basis is extraordinary.
page 5. Also, the thing the Cardinal is doing to Allen is just really creepy. Surely breaking a seal doesn't have to be so creepy.
page 6. This is kind of a badass cover for such a creepy guy.
page 8. Oh no ninja cardinal and also Link he made your arm be drawn all weird THE HORROR
page 9. Is that-- coming out of your eyeballs-- HOSHINO LEAVE EYEBALLS ALONE FOR GOD'S SAKE

page 13. So cute that in the midst of all this WTF, Allen is still like "Oh god oh god I killed a person oh god." That's my boy. I've long characterized Allen as being emotionally unable to kill others. (And I've seen other Allens rationalize that away.)
page 13. Also, Link/Allen. Even in that much pain and disorientation, Allen went "Link dying must stop" to the point of murder.
page 14. Hahaha it's bad but I kind of love Allen's traumaface at the bottom of this page orz.

page 26. Allen is so traumatized seeing Cross's "last moments". He has never really dealt with his "death". I think he's so woobie. ;;

page 27. Seriously though this is obviously a parallel to the Rewinding Town when Road pressed close against him and was like, "Don't I feel human? Aren't I warm? Can't you hear my heartbeat?" She was using it as a weapon then and it was freaking him out, but here that human contact -- feeling her warmth and hearing her heartbeat -- calmed him down.

page 29. Hahaha I kind of love how chill the Cardinal is about this, grumbling about rude people barging in, BY GOD HE WOULD APPRECIATE SOME CONSIDERATION HE WAS ABSORBING SOMEONE HERE. :(

page 30. Although Innocence has always been terrifying, see: the two storylines where Allen's turns him into a puppet, eating Suman Dark, etc.

And now backtracking to:
page 01-03. The Earl here seems to be reacting to Apocryphos using his power on Allen. Did he then send Tyki and Road out to protect/retrieve him?
And now for random thoughts, clarification, theorizing:
Some people have been taking this for confirmation that Allen is the Heart, but I'm still not sure. Apocryphos was talking about Allen and what makes Allen unique and fascinating and Allen's bond with Innocence as living entities; he never talked about Allen's Innocence. And don't forget that when he first appeared, he said "Everyone is worried about Allen. Especially the Heart." If he'd meant Allen's own Innocence, it seemed like he'd have mentioned it again, ever.
The conversation with Cross: Cross said, "When we first met, he didn't say he was Allen. I should've realized this mistake sooner!" I assume this is in reference to Reverse 3, when Cross meets tiny circus freak and asks him "Does Mana call you Allen?" and the confused kid is like "What? That is his dog's name." But Cross doesn't act like he's surprised, like this changes anything, he just sort of still... acts like what he said is true, and it later did in fact become true.
So what does that mistake mean? Who the hell knows. This fucking manga, it could seriously mean anything. Cross assumed that the tiny boy was already called Allen, and explicitly states that his mistake can be traced back to the fact that that boy wasn't going by Allen yet. Obviously it doesn't mean Cross was wrong about Allen hosting the 14th; he clearly does. Maybe it means Cross was mistaken about the nature of the 14th's possession? After all, he told Allen that the 14th picked him out personally, which doesn't make sense, because the 14th died 35 years ago, when Allen's was negative twenty years old. Maye Cross assumed time hijinx the way Mana has experienced... But if Allen inherited the 14th in a way that Cross didn't expect, that means maybe Allen isn't doomed the way Cross assumed he was. It sounds like the crisis is more about "the name Allen" than about the boy Allen, so I don't think he can be saying there was something wrong with the little boy as much as that something else was awry...
Why does the Innocence protecting the Heart want to kill Cross? And then leave Judgment behind; why not absorb Judgment, if it can do that? Did it absorb Cross? Maybe Maria is the Heart? :|a That would explain why Cross kept her around, didn't let anyone know he had her, and avoided Central; as well as why no one has found Maria.
On another note, I think we're finally coming to the part of the manga where we talk about how the Noah are good guys. >_> It's been foreshadowed for a long time, since the Earl first told us how the Exorcists follow a false God, the way they speak of Innocence as being horrible, etc. Obviously they're also douchebags, since akuma are abominations, but what if the Earl's goals have been misunderstood by the Exorcists?
No Lavis, again. But if the Noah whisk Allen off to their lair, Lavi is the only other main protagonist there. So maybe this story arc will feature revelations, backstory, and Allen and Lavi as the leads? :|a /optimist

Also was it said the 14th was killed 35 years ago? I thought that he betrayed him, attempting to kill him, then went on the run with Mana for a while. Then got killed.
