Various Assorted Sundries
Psst. You. Yeah, you, the kids asking all the obnoxious questions you know JK Rowling can't answer.
I want her to bitchslap you. I marvel at her patience. She should just say, "Well, actually, yes Harry IS going to die in book seven, and Voldemort will take over the world and rule supreme. Other people who die are Snape and Lupin and Ron, and Hermione is going to marry Neville but they won't have any children. All the Marauders are dead, as you can see, no coming back. Thank you for being curious about my writing, but really, I guess now you don't need to read the next few books, huh? I hope even though now that Harry Potter is no longer new and interesting to you, you'll remember the story fondly someday."
No, you MORON, she's not going to tell you who wins! Or else she wouldn't be writing books, she'd just be handing out OUTLINES of books, and you could fill in the scenes yourself!
On the other hand --
SiriuslyLovinSirius: If we ever see Sirius again, what form will he be in?
JK Rowling replies -> I couldn't possibly answer that for fear of incriminating myself.
Cookie246122: Why did you kill Sirius? It made me very sad :(
JK Rowling replies -> I'm really, really sorry. I didn't want to do it, but there was a reason. If you think you can forgive me, keep reading, you'll find out. [I feel really guilty now].
This makes me feel somewhat vindicated, honestly. Anybody with a reasonable sense of cynicism doubts his death, but reading her evasions made me feel almost warmfuzzy about it. XD On the other hand, I think it's really sad that Rowling has to go out of her way, of her own volition, to tell people, "Er, no, Hermione and Draco are not going to get together" is a really sad commentary on the state of the fandom. She actually says, "The trouble is, of course, that girls fancy Tom Felton, but Draco is NOT Tom Felton!" Thank you, madam. I love you forever, even though you did, er, "kill" Sirius.
On a personal note: I went to Hiroshima today. It cast a pall of depression around us a mile wide. I was just full of horror listening to those stories, seeing what happened there. And the most amazing part is that nobody's bitter or resentful at all. It's not a war museum, or a commemorating unfairness museum -- it's a peace museum. They say, "Look at what war is: It's horrible. Senseless, cruel, tragic, and horrible. Let us all work together and keep this from ever happening again."
They don't care who dropped the bomb. They only care about the bombs because, in the wake of it, they know better.
It still kinda hurts.
More when I'm not so tired.

I think that everyone who goes to Japan should take time to see Hiroshima's peace museum. It's so important and so deeply meaningful. ::hug:: But it's really hard.
