aka, it's time for more of Kay Plays Tales of the Abyss 3DS. Today we will get some new party members or I will eat my hat. And they will insinuate things about Luke and Tear that I won't appreciate!

Spoilers will be contained herein, and you're welcome to spoil me. Or to try. I am pretty tough to spoil, considering I completed this game years ago.

Luke has to write in a diary every day because the doctors don't want him forgetting everything again if he has a second bout of mystery amnesia. Roxas feels you, man.

Hey look, it's Ion! He's in trouble oh wait no he's kicking ass oh wait no he's passing out.

Luke is concerned about him and Ion fluffs about how sweet his name is before Tear distracts the ~lovebirds~ with her genetics.

I feel like Luke's response to Ion is proof that even long-haired Luke is a good person. Sorry Tear, you just weren't nice enough to him. Ever.

Of course he is! Luke is good with people who handle him well. Rose the random mayor of Engeve handled him like a charmer: by rights he should have blown up at her and the farmers who accused him, but she was so relentlessly positive and reasonable that Luke could barely muster a "yeah yeah".

You know the most offensive part to me about the party insinuating something going on between Luke and Tear?

It's that nobody seems to care that Luke is engaged to the princess and that their marriage means the future of Baticul. This is even before you find out who Asch is.

That's a good point. It just makes me sigh over how little anybody cares about Natalia. :|a Maybe this is a subset of "Natalia, how dare you have feelings while Tear is having other feelings?" scene.

The cheagle got away because of how slow Ion and Tear are. :( Then we pause for ten minutes to discuss cheagle behavior. Tear is annoyed that Luke wants to take Ion "somewhere so dangerous" and Luke is like "He's just going to wander back here on his own if we leave him". Like Ion is a clueless dog. An adorable, clueless dog.

Luke: Besides, we can't just leave someone with a face so pale he looks like he's about to die.
Me: How did you get tan, by the way.
Ion: Thank you so much! ♥ You're such a nice person, Luke!
Luke: /blushhhh
Luke: N, no I'm not.
Me: Gaaaaay.

More cheagles. We have found proof (circumstantial! tsk) that the cheagles stole food! Uh-oh, things getting real now.

Ion: Cheagles are herbivores. Why do you need to steal human food?
Me: Apples are a fruit, by the way. Herbivores can eat-- Never mind.

We need to feed the ligers so they don't eat us because Mieu is a dumbass. Got it. Luke is the least impressed. By this whole situation. Only Ion's moe stops him from condemning the whole town to death by liger stomach.

Luke: Cheagles are infuriating.
Ion and Tear: They're so cute! ♥
Luke: Bite me.

Mieu: Look what I can do! :D

Mieu: I didn't learn my lesson! :D

Luke stops us to ask Ion how he learned awesome fonic artes. Wait, no. Not the explanation. Just hand over the secret. You know. The secret to awesome. Luke wants to have it.

Tear is like, "What the fuck," and Ion goes, "No, it's okay, I'll tell him."

Luke puts on his new capacity core and wants to know if it makes his ass look big. Ion promises him he looks totally hot with it on.

Tear sighs.

Liger Queen is like, bitches, I have eggs to look after, gtfo.

But liger eggs hatch into liger babies (or, perhaps, ligars) and they like to eat tasty humans, so they're always wiped out near settlements. It seems like this species is unlikely to have survived long, but sure.

Luke saves Mieu from certain death. Despite his personal distaste for him.

His attempts to tsun away go, "I wasn't protecting you! I was protecting Ion."

So... that settles that.

Jade has been here for twelve seconds and already he's insinuating that Luke and Tear are getting it on.

He has a copy of the script, so he already knows that's the order of the day.

Luke is so cute. Jade is giving Ion the tiniest dressing-down for his antics and Luke is like "HEY OLD MAN. HE'S APOLOGIZING. GIVE HIM A BREAK. NOT THAT I LIKE HIM OR ANYTHING."

Mieu is assigned to come with Luke for a year. Ion talks Luke into not murdering him, and then Luke decides to maybe give him to "Guy and the others" as a souvenir. :|a

By the way, Mieu is derpy monster Ion ("Please don't fight :( ") so I guess being a pretty girl does count for something.

I love the part where Luke's just like "AND YOU GUYS KIDNAPPED ME ANYWAY" and Jade is just like "No, I don't think so."

Ion: Maybe we should ask them for help.
Jade: We're heading for Baticul, capital of Kimlasca, under orders of Emperor Peony IX.
Tear: To declare war?

Yes, Tear. They are marching straight up to Ingobert's doorstep, knocking, informing him that they're going to be having a war now and would you please come out to play, and then -- just blowing the palace up? I don't even know. Who declares war by sailing a warship up to the capital city? And why would they need help for that? They already have the warship. I don't think Luke standing at the front of the warship going "IT'S COOL, THEY'RE WITH ME. THEY'RE HERE TO DECLARE WAR" will change anything.

I like Recruit Tony, the Malkuth soldier who doesn't know how to use fonic artes. Which is embarrassing. Because Malkuth is really big on fonic artes. All the soldiers can use them. Except Tony. :(

Luke: He's not talking to you. He must mean Anise and Mieu.

Luke tells Jade that when he was kidnapped by Malkuth he lost all his childhood memories.

Jade immediately puts the entire plot of the game together.

And he tells no one for twenty hours.

Asshole.

Why should he help them figure things out?

That's what Guy is for.

Okay, we'll help you. So they explain that Peony is awesome and wants everyone to be at peace and have flowers, and Mohs wants everyone to die in a horrible war followed by plague. (I'm using some of my future knowledges.)

Tear refuses to believe that Mohs could ever want war, an opinion she will firmly defend right up until the point where a gibbering monster Mohs dies wailing about how all he wanted was to kill everyone.

Then, if only we all had known better.

Tear: No, I'm neutral.

So you know about this conflict, then. Do you know about this war business. Also, the part where you are obviously attached to Mohs's butt. What about that?
