Tales of Graces f: DAY FOUR

Soooo, we were too tired to play last night, but I made up for it by playing a fuckton today.

Unfortunately, all of that playing was to get back to the same point where we already were! That's right. I restarted. Because I saw that I had missed a sidequest and a discovery, and I make good decisions.

Starting from: "Sophie?" has joined the party!

Observations on content I had missed:

Lord Windegarde is the windmill. I missed discovering it! And there was no skit for discovering it. But later on I got a skit for discovering something I hadn't originally gotten a skit for discovering.

So maybe you have to discover it at the right time, with the right party? And if you wait too long you just don't get the skit? I guess that makes sense.

I am manually juggling titles now, so I keep going "Ahhhh more titles whyyyy".

Since I made this comment I have gotten at least 5 more titles for Asbel alone.

Sophie has a cute end-battle quote. "I could listen to them talk all day long!" Peopleee. ;;

When we return to Lhant, a soldier and a child come to greet us. They say that everyone was saved, thanks to Asbel, but there are many injured.

The child starts sobbing and wailing about how his daddy's hurt.

Why did you bring this child here to thank us, soldier? That seems insensitive.

Anyway, Cheria leaves to go tend to the injured. The soldier confides that Cheria is totally awesome, like a guardian angel, with her mysterious ability to heal with a touch.

I don't understand. I assumed Sophie is the source of the glowiness and we've all caught it because contagion, but aren't there, like... healing artes in this world?? Are there not? Is it because of the lack of TP? Curse you, CC! Have you robbed this world of healing artes??

The Fendelians kind of took over our border fortress, so we have to drive them out before we can ever be safe again. Duly noted.

Asbel broods for a bit over his unpleasant homecoming, but shakes it off when Sophie notices.

"Let's go home."

Up to the manor, where Mom is stunned to see us!

Asbel missed the funeral. Awkwardness is exchanged, and Lady Kerri stops crying long enough to beg Asbel not to leave again. You have to be Lord Lhant now...

Yeah, he'll. He'll think about that.

No one has yet had any commentary on the little dead girl I'm traveling with.

Asbel pauses to gaze at the family portrait and mourn the opportunity to ever mend his ties with his dad. He blames himself, of course! Because he is the worst stupidest most hateful human being who ever lived.

If only he hadn't X, Y, and Z, everyone would be happy. And alive. Etc.

Back in Asbel's room, where he is amused to find that it looks small to him now. He goes to his desk to write a letter, and Frederic brings him tea.

Asbel asks him to mail the letter: his withdrawal from the Knight Academy. He's ready.

Grown-up Asbel is embarrassed by the state of his desk.

So, now sitting at his father's desk, thinking about how weird this feels. He reads over the report about the enemy's encampment, and contemplates using the Seaside Cavern to stage a surprise attack.

Cheria demands to be in the attack, and Sophie agrees. So we form a party, hooray.

In front of the dungeon we have a little scene in which Sophie wanders off and Cheria criticizes Asbel for calling her by Sophie's name, accusing him of not being in touch with reality.

"Look, I know," he says. "Sophie's dead, my dad's dead, Hubert was adopted by some guy in Strahta, and my best friend doesn't smile anymore and treats me like a stranger."

Burrrrrn.

He tells her that he knows it's all his fault, and he's trying to fix things.

Sophie wanders over with a sopheria and asks its name, and is pleased to be named after it. "It feels warm and familiar." She asks to be called Sophie.

SKIT! Cheria and Asbel are retarded, so they use Sophie to play telephone. Asbel told Sophie to tell Cheria she's cute, and Cheria tells Sophie to tell Asbel he should butt out.

Cheria! You don't understand. Asbel actually dates girls now. Seize the day, girlfriend!

SKIT! Asbel finds this place gloomy. Sophie happily tells him that Cheria told him to butt out. :D She likes delivering messages.

But now Asbel is more gloomy.

Okay, I must play this game just for those two skits.

Dungeon dungeon dungeon.

I don't know how the eleth mixer works other than "occasionally spits out things". Why did it give me two verbenas when there was only a 1% chance of that happening?

Okay, dungeon dungeon, boss, sit around and wait for the army to trickle in and catch up to us.

Now it's nightfall and we have a small squadron of fighters to help out. Sneak attack on the Fendelian caaaamp

Asbel cunningly notices that there is... no one in the Fendelian camp. Whoops.

They launched their own sneak attack. So either we coincidentally passed each other in the night, or they knew about our plan...

Lhant is completely overrun. Shit has gone down and we are too late. There's even more reinforcements coming in from the side, and --

What's that? Those aren't more Fendelian forces? They're from... Strahta!

Hubert is back and he's hardcore now.

Hubert is a lieutenant now! Asbel admires him, but Hubert ignores him completely and just walks away to comfort the surviving citizens.

On behalf of his homeland, he was compelled to take action, even though he is a man of Strahta now, and he has formed an alliance on Lhant's behalf, Strahta and Windor teaming up to deal with Fendel.

Asbel wants to talk to Hubert, but some terrifying Jade+Sodia hybrid comes to tell him that the lieutenant has more important things to do than talk to you. If you ~desire an audience~ please wait until morning.

That night Hubert comes up to the manor and Asbel tries to be proud of him but Hubert is having none of it. He stares at Sophie a little though, who stares back at him.

Hubert attempts to take command of the Sophie situation, which finally clues Asbel in that, yeah, maybe he should put his foot down, here.

Yeah, having none of it. Hubert is angry at you, too, Asbel.

Sophie has to tell them to stop.

Hubert, your gauzy skirt is even lamer than I thought it would be from the art and the opening sequence.

Why is everyone's outfit so terrible

Hubert is sitting in Dad's chair when we come into the office. "There's an important matter I neglected to tell the townspeople."

I'm going to go ahead and guess it's I own Lhant now.

For the record, I still blame Lord Aston being a moron for this.
