Missed opportunities?

I realized that Neku shouldn't be able to use any of his pins even if I take him from during the Reaper's Game, because he doesn't have a partner. There's no Noise to attack him in the dome, so that's fine, but the reason the Noise attacking him would be a problem is because you can't use pins until you've made a pact.

Joshua is Joshua, and our previous Neku didn't have any abilities because Cricket apped him from post-game. But I'd forgotten we also had a Shiki, apped during the game, and we told her she could use her pin just fine, no questions asked.

So I was in the clear! Right?

But before the research, I had thought, "Wouldn't it be cool to force Neku to form a pact with a random character in Marina in order to use any of his powers? Instant permanent excuse for bonding!"

It would! So clearly you should. I know nothing about the canon but I can only say it's an awesome experience to muddle through with someone who is willing to do that much character exploration with you. What I did with Conrad is also a little similar and that's been a blast too~

It's part of what I want in my RP premises -- some excuse for players to group together with others, essentially creating artificial canonmates. Either by putting characters in pre-determined and separated housing, or by forcing characters into teams -- something where you create an excuse to interact. I didn't get to do that with Marina and there isn't really a way to implement it now; but I've always liked it.

Man, Neku's canon would be an awesome game premise. #thingsIwillneverdo

Only trouble with teams is they make drops kind of a bigger deal. Not insurmountable, but yeah. That's why I only do these bonding things when I know the other player well enough to know there won't be flaking. XD;;

You're right, but it's only really a pain IMO if a character is idling out; if a character just drops, they can be replaced, and as long as you have someone there it's not a big deal. But I don't really obsess over drops... It makes characters ICly harder to play (and play with) if they're constantly mourning things that no one can help happening for OOC reasons.

The mentality of "I'll save my plotting with other people I already know" has made me miserable in games before; it's unsustainable on a large scale, and some games do nothing to discourage it. But that's not to say that I won't be considering Neku's partner carefully. >_> I want it to be someone I can communicate with easily and regularly, and naturally it's easier for me to say "Oh, I can communicate with Jes and Haunt, it should be one of them", but I'm going to let Neku narrow down the field -- I don't have to decide right away, so I'll tell everyone that CR with Neku can mean a chance to gain a paranormal power, see who he finds tolerable of his first week or two of CR, and then form a pool from there and then figure out the OOC player situation from there. :|a

I agree with all of this! I certainly don't mean to say only plot with BFFs because that mentality helps no one. I think it's more my Personal Issue with plans getting derailed coming into play. >.>

Yay! I'll get on that app then. And then once Saya's killed/asleep/whatever will go on with her, Estelle can happen~ Because I'm PROBABLY not insane enough to play nine characters.
