Captain America: The Winter Soldier['s Love Interest]
Livestream/livetweeting the presidential debates in a little, whooo! I have my debate bingo cards and everything. I get excited about these things.
Meanwhile, in news that is obviously more important, Natasha will probably be making an appearance in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Potentially spoiler thoughts below:
Some Natasha is better than any Natasha. I don't know why I sort of mentally assumed that the franchises would now be more separate that they had been in the past. Natasha and Clint had cameos in Phase 1 movies, so why shouldn't they continue having cameos in Phase 2 movies?
But there is a tiny part of me going "aieee my Clint/Natasha ship". Because Natasha has a comics history with Bucky (and with Steve) (and Clint) (collecting hot men, rock it, girlfriend) and I want Natasha and Clint to be a thing that happens! But it makes sense for Bucky to also be a thing that happens. After all, Bucky is the Natasha to Steve's Clint -- he's the brainwashed assassin that Steve-Clint has to redeem, who then has to struggle with the morality of their previous way of life. He and Natasha have a lot in common. A lot to empathize about.
I will continue shipping my things regardless, of course, and there is every possibility that I will also ship Bucky/Natasha regardless of whether they actually are canon or not. But I will have a tiny sad if it preempts a canon Clint/Natasha, because even my sister thought they should make out.

I ship Natasha/Clint so hard but I'm fine if they don't explore it too much. Just as long as I can still ship in peace.

I agree completely. It always makes me happy to have my ships confirmed, but I don't need it, and sometimes I even prefer it ambiguous/hinted-at! But it was my first thought when I saw that Natasha would be in Winter Soldier, I was like "Aww, was the person from this post validated in her paranoia?" But in the long run, I still can't sympathize with that person exploding just because her ships may not be canon. It's cool, guys. Just go on loving what you love.

Yeah Ant-Man sort of made me go "really, Marvel?" But at least they're diversifying their movies unlike, say, DC who keeps remaking movies about the same two superheroes.
Honestly, my ships get sunk so much that I've gotten to the point where I just keep shipping anyway. As long as it isn't heavy-handed or weirdly OOC in canon, I'm usually okay with it. Besides, just being with Bucky doesn't necessarily mean they'll stick with comics continuity in terms of relationships. That's been part of the fun of the movies so far, seeing how they handle and build various relationships.

All in all it was a disappointment. I enjoyed watching it with friends and reading comedian commentary on Twitter, at least. Hopefully Obama will step up his game for the next ones, but I'm really extra disappointed that Jim Lehrer just sort of sat there uselessly making distressed noises while the candidates ran WAY over their allotted time for every topic, interrupted each other, Romney told him he would fire him once -- and so they really only ever talked about the economy and health care, when I was hoping they'd talk about women's issues and/or gay rights.

My friends also noted that Romney mostly stuck to two talking points: "This isn't New Hampshire" and "The elderly." I imagine a lot of the lies pertained to the latter, considering any Romney/Ryan presidency would do everything in its power to destroy Social Security and Medicare.
