Got up to Renji vs Byakuya in liveblogging the Bleach manga and I'm just sobbing, sobbing, sobbing. Are Renji and Rukia seriously still not married? How? Why? I refuse.

I refrained from ranting or essaying about it, but seriously.



I remodeled my journal and profile and icons for my Bleach mood (plus some bonus icons), so now pretty much everything will have Urahara's face on it. You're welcome.

I find myself with more free time than I used to have, because of reasons. It's going to feel great.

Man, I loved Bleach.. but I lived and died for the Shunsui and Ukitake. Oh that was my OTP in that series but ah Renji and Rukia, such a good ship too.. I love how he protects is always trying to protect her and Rukia is like "I got this!"

Kyouraku and Ukitake!! I've always shipped them (since I've always been sort of ambivalent on Kyouraku and Nanao for reasons I could never explain) (once we introduced Lisa into his life, though) but I got so caught up in the main idiots that I never did much with the "adult" cast the first time around in the fandom.

But the whole reason I started rereading is actually because of Kyouraku. I ended up devouring TV Tropes and reading things about how Kyouraku babies Nanao as compensation for what happened to Lisa, and how Ukitake was unable to make himself attack Wonderweiss because he's so childlike and Kyouraku's like, "Well, I've got no problems with attacking a child!" and then flips out when Wonderweiss hurts Ukitake.

And I just loved everything I read. And then I loved everything about everyone and I realized I needed to waste a week of my life rereading it. Truly, it's hard having such awesome characters.

But Renji and Rukia. How miserable they both are after coming to Seireitei, and him struggling with himself for her throughout the Soul Society arc, and how he's thinking of her even while his consciousness fades after Byakuya defeats him, and how she senses his reiatsu fading and starts screaming, and I just. /lies down to die, my heart

Also IIRC the part at the end of this arc where Ichigo tosses her at Renji like a sack of potatoes (he ships it!) and tells him to protect her and Renji swears he's never letting go of her again and that should've been their cue to get married, damnit.

Stupid KT knows how to give me all the feelings.

You know, this is sort of making me want to read Bleach now. I've been sort of throwing myself into the "Puella Magi Madoka Magica" manga right now but wow, Bleach. I remember iconning the shit out of that. Oh the characters and I agree, I always liked the adults in the series and I used to roleplay Ukitake quite a bit. (Don't even know why I don't have a roleplay journal for him). But goodness, all the feels and all the characters. I don't think there was a single character in Bleach that I felt ambivalent to.

Considering how stupidly huge the Bleach cast is, it's amazing how high a percentage of them I liked as a character or shipped with someone or had interest in. Like, I think the 12th Division cast is probably my least favorite and I would not call myself a "fan" of either Mayuri or Nemu, but I can still come up with a fairly sizable list of things I'm interested in when it comes to them. KT just has a real way with protagonists, and often with villains as well.

I have such a weak spot for Ukitake, not unlike everyone in the Bleach universe. I had an Ukitake in a game with my Orihime once and throwing two fluffmonsters into a room together always ends well. I'm weak to making character journals and addicted to playing with icons. I have Orihime and I just made one for Rukia too on DW. Why I'm bothering when I have no intentions of playing in a game and will no doubt never really find partners for Bleach RP I don't even know, but it's like a compulsion!

Well it certainly wasn't like Naruto which was the other big beast at the time, I had very little interest in Bleach aside from Kakashi and Itachi. Other then that, it was like 'meh'. But Bleach actually had something valid growing for it in terms of characters that I actually really liked. (I agree Mayuri and Nemu.. I didn't like them overly much, but in a cast of hundreds, it wasn't really the exception rather then the rule.)

And now I want to create an Ukitake so that I can throw him at your Orihime and they can do all sorts of awesome things. I bet when they both cook, they make octopus hotdogs!

I feel the same way! I actually got into Bleach because of the shipwars, hahaha, I heard so much about them that I was finally like, "Okay, I'm going to read some of this stupid thing and decide who I agree with!" When I realized it was actually awesome I tried Naruto, because I had always mentally conflated them, but Naruto did not catch my interest either, so I stayed in Shipwar Central.

I would love to play with your Ukitake! Over time I've played Orihime, Hinamori, Rangiku, and Aizen (my weaknesses are fluffmonsters and evil geniuses), but I am... definitely exploring possibilities right now. I'm considering adding more mains to my repertoire, but at the moment I have a lot of interest in Kyouraku-Ukitake-Lisa-the Visored tragedy in general and Urahara-Yoruichi.

I wish I remembered to use them more often.

I did actually end up with an accidental Rukia haircut once...! Her good haircut, not her new weird Hanatarou haircut. I bet yours was cuter than mine.

Fair enough. I've been similarly reluctant to rant/essay about ANYTHING as stress has wrecked my memory even worse than it used to be. That said, I miss reading other people's essays, especially about Bleach.
