It's an RP meme!
Seems like a good time to link my shiny updated muse list again.
1. A roleplaying pet peeve the mun has
I can't think of anything that really drives me crazy right now, but I have a problem when tags don't give you enough to respond to, or when people don't seem to be reading their tags -- e.g. one time my tag read "I've heard some details about your world from your castmates... [he said vaguely, betraying how little he actually knows]", and the other (allegedly intelligent) character responded, "Ah, so you know all about it already, then."
2. A bad habit the mun has in roleplaying
Thread... dropping... If it took me days before I could get around to doing tags, there's a good chance that I feel so guilty about not responding for days that I just run away from the older tags and never come back. Inside of games I try to force myself to get threads at least to AC length but I don't have great discipline, and outside of games when there's no driving force I'm doomed.
3. A canon character the munhas always wanted is interested in trying to RP as
• Winning the "always" length contest is, like, everyone in Xenogears -- they've been on my muselist for years and occasionally get considered as potential apps. Probably mostly Billy Lee Black, because pretty white-haired priests who are also ungrateful poor brats is apparently a thing I do. But also interested in Kahran Ramsus (I am a little obsessed with him right now), Elly, and Fei Fong Wong. Urghhh this stupid game.
• Lisa Yadoumaru, despite -- or maybe because of -- her one facial expression. I don't know if I could play her, but I wish I could. Badass sexually comfortable deadpan snarker ftw.
• Lenalee Lee. Just look at those two champions. I had trouble finding relatively recent canon images but I see that I need to go saving shippy art off Zerochan! I've always wanted to try playing her but I worry that I don't have a good voice for her and I just default to Allen so easily...
• Namine. I've been longing to RP Namine for years, but she's not as appealing a candidate as Roxas because she's not as independent a character and I worry that her quiet, meek nature would result in other people finding her boring. Lord knows I've played with boring Namines. So instead I default to Roxas.
• Jane Shepard, although mostly because I have the world's best journal for her.
• Ivory Malinov, a character from a mediocre vampire romance novel I fell in love with a while back. She has a pack of vampire wolves who transform into cool tattoos to travel with her secretly and she doesn't trust anybody.
4. An OC the mun has always wanted to RP as
I don't usually want to app OCs -- a large part of the appeal of RP for me is in getting the chance to play out and expand upon canon dynamics, which isn't there for OCs. I've played in completely OC games before, and of course I've played NPCs in Marina. I actually wanted to play Sentience again recently, if that counts.
5. A phrase/word the mun uses too much in writing
I think I overuse some basic adverbs like "a little" or "very"? That's just bad writing. Sometimes I look back at a tag and go "Fuck, I used 'little' like three times in that tag." Drives me crazy.
6. One of the mun’s best RP experiences
Probably Mid-Marina. The glory days, when Marina was full of friends and wonderful people and we were all active and excited and doing dorky things... I wish I could take a second stab at it. I feel like I'd be a better mod now, since I have a better idea of how to move the plot along even when players don't contribute, but maybe I'm just kidding myself and I would still thread-drop the NPCs and lose interest in two months and I definitely can't do it by myself. One of you should start a game and I'll co-mod.
7. One of the mun’s worst RP experiences
Anything that involves playing a manipulative genius and/or a villain, so see: Lelouch, Charles, Mithos, etc. (Shut up Ramsus isn't really a villain he's just confused.) I'm really bad at it. I don't want to ruin the fun for other people and I don't want to godmode but if other players don't cooperate with my genius and/or villainy I'm trapped.
8. Something the mun likes about their writing
I feel like I have a good grasp on character "voice" -- I try to write tags that are more than just IC, but things I could hear the character saying.
9. Something the mun needs to improve on
Thread-dropping.
10. A funny RPing story
One time I played Axel/Roxas with someone who was extremely needy and constantly harassed me to play with her, wouldn't take no for an answer, and made new screennames to stalk me. When that failed, she went to bad_rpers_suck to complain about me, and when I finally officially told her I wasn't interested in playing Axel/Roxas with her anymore, she began dramatically making claims about having only 5 years to live and how she had to deal with her mental Axel having committed suicide in despair. It was hilarious.
You know, every Axel I've ever played Roxas with has gone weird on me! Maybe this is the universe's way of telling me to stop playing Roxas.
11. One of the mun’s guilty RP pleasures
AU shenanigans! Including but not limited to school AUs, Dragonriders of Pern AUs, angel/demon AUs, porno AUs, OU crossover with AU (e.g. AU character falls into or swaps places with OU world) and generic shapeshifting/genderbending hijinx. I love AU shenanigans.
12. A word of advice from one RPer to another
Really think about why your character makes the choices they do and try to hear them saying your tag in your head, I guess.
