It's everything that I wanted! My only complaint is Trish - not as a character, but oh my god, the moment the actress opened her mouth I was like what accent are you doing. But that's nothing to do with content. (Although I did like how the show's costuming department made it clear she's a bottle blonde.)
It was definitely intense. But I like intense! Does the second episode have any breathing room or is it all uphill, accelerating to 600km/h?
Later on someone comes up to Trish and is like "I MISS YOUR RED HAIR" and I was amused! I like Trish and I don't have any grating response to her accent. And she's a lovely character, so I would forgive her many things.
There is some breathing room, I think, you probably have like... one episode to unwind before it starts right back up that wall!
Don't tell me what happens at the end with Office Oral ok!
That scene I thought she was having a horrible Kilgrave nightmare and then they panned down and I literally shrieked because AMAZING. AAHHH. I saw what you did there, Marvel!
I also really appreciate Jeri. I remember thinking, "this is how roles for women should be written - where you could substitute a man into the role and there would literally be no difference." (Obviously, that's not a universal thing; some stories are inherently gendered, but hers isn't. I like that.) And then I found out her comics counterpart was a dude. :D
But seriously, all that characters are fabulously written. (Well, the socially awkward codependent twins are... whatever they are.) There's one scene in the whole show where I was like "This feels a bit forced". (It was related to the socially awkward codependent twins!) Jeri does have a very traditionally masculine role and no one turns a hair, and I love that she is a morally grey character whose moral greyness is handled appropriately.
I also love how important and real and perfect Trish and Jessica's relationship is. Just... loooove. Is the Luke Cage show out yet???
I am like two episodes from the end and my only qualm is the scene with Malcolm in the hospital because my heart literally lept into my mouth but I will try to avoid the spoilerz other than that. I feel like more could have been done there? But it was overall better than it could have been. Just. I...right now, a little too real? That scene.
