While Corrin is brooding alone, she meets Azura, who is singing to herself in the lake. Azura is Corrin. I mean, she's the Nohr/Hoshidan counterpart to Corrin. I mean... Shortly after Corrin was kidnapped from the Hoshidan royalty and brought to Nohr, Azura was kidnapped from the Nohrian royal family and brought to Hoshido. And apparently King Garon and the siblings were like, "Whatever, Corrin's way cooler and we love her more, just forget about Azura," I suppose.

Anyway, Azura likes it here and likes the Hoshidans and thinks the Nohrians are evil, so she doesn't want to go back. Just here to give you another parallel!

I fucking love AZURA, she's such a nice twist on the typical archetypes of her JRPG trope. Also, my phone venerates her name to the point of all-capping it consistently.

Ooh! I currently know nothing about her other than that she's mysterious, so I look forward to finding out more. I personally resist that pairing because you know how I am about Main... uh... Main Character/Main Female, and Azura is featured very main female-edly in the artwork. But I certainly see where it is coming from because I am not blind, and I'm interested in their relationship. Even if their C support was practically a placeholder

The thing about Fire Emblem supports is, I have a lot of difficulty deriving legit ships from them since they're: three conversations → boom, married... plus, often times, the S-rank scenes are so sappy and abrupt that they give me incredible secondhand embarrassment. So if I want to ship something, I have to get my interaction elsewhere! That's how Awakening sold me on Sumia/Chrom, even though she had a much better support with Gaius. (RP changed my mind later, when I played Lucina for two years and ended up with an Olivia family for her.)

But Azura has a lot going on and their interaction is deeper than their support! I'm only into it on the lady-lady side, though. Dude Corrin can sit and spin.

I 100% agree, actual interaction is waaaay superior than the support scenes in determining shippiness. But so few of the eventual pairings have literally any canon interaction, so I do judge compatibility to some extent on the supports -- even though in the case of a pair with real canon interaction, like Corrin and Azura, it would mostly be tonal.

But that's exactly how I felt about the S scenes. In FE:A I would watch every S scene I unlocked and then say, "No, that feels like it comes out of fucking nowhere and it's forced and OOC." Then I would reload! I tried to go for pairs where the S support was IC and engaging. Like, Lon'qu and Miriel were like, a super random pairing, but I felt like their supports... supported the S rank conclusion instead of it abruptly just being "By the way, everything that happened was because of my feelings for you! Which are just -- the strongest! Here is a ring so we can marry, my dearest love."

Yeah, which is why I've more or less given up shipping in Fire Emblem! Except for a few outliers that break the mold but, even then, I have to kind of... ignore the S-rank scene because jesus christmas this is gross.
