Okay. She's kinda cool.

Just got back from my sister's scholarship ceremony. Saw a lot of my old HS teachers -- Ali got the same award I did, from the literary magazine, presented by the same teacher I did, Ms. Gregory, and she got an amazing personal touching speech from Greg, just like I did. Mr. J also gave her an amazing personal touching speech that nobody listened to because we didn't know she was winning another one, and I love that man so much, I heard he was looking for me but I never saw him after the ceremony was over. Now I have to go visit.

All in all, she won three scholarships and raked in an estimated $14,500. Lit magazine was $1,500 -- random Mr. J award was $250 for all four years -- random Mr. B award presented by a very boring man (the principal) instead of Mr. B for $3,000 for all four years. What the fuck? I did much better overall than she did... But then again, I wasn't willing to write as many essays in the name of getting cash.

And again again, her college is about two and a half times more expensive than mine per academic year... So I guess she can keep it.

Afterwards at the refreshments bar a young black man -- I remembered him from the ceremony; he's the only black guy in our graduating class -- assaulted me and shook my hand. "Wow," he said. "You're her sister, right? We heard a lot about you from her, she talks about you all the time. It's an honor to meet you. She's really proud of you, you know."

Sometimes I like my sister.

My sister is kind of the same way. She still will not say more than 5 words to me over the phone, I just got my first Christmas present from her this year (only took 19 years XD), and she ignores me more often than not. But, when she was selecting a college, she would come in to talk to me every night, she chose the college that I recommended the most highly, and (something I didn't realize until I graduated high school) she followed me through almost every activity I did in jr high/high school from her sixth grade year on, even as far as running for most of the same officerships I had held. ^^;;; It was kind of touching, in a "Did she really do it because of me, or for some other sinister reason?" kind of way. ^^;;;;
