They can't all be winners, but they can all be published, I guess

Today I saw a webcomic with really mediocre art and an even less impressive webpage. The story might have potential since it seemed to have Plot, but the pictures I saw to advertise for it were very uninspired and made cliches immediately spring to my mind about the main relationship and its conflicts. I paged about four or five times through the archive and stopped because I failed to be interested in any part of it, least of all the art, which is anime-ish and very fanart-y.

The first "book" is getting printed soon.

I thought to myself, "We really must be living in a luxury culture if people are willing to waste money on such a bland presentation, either printing it or purchasing it. Doesn't talent or inspiration matter anymore?"

Then I felt sort of bad for thinking that about what is evidently a popular webcomic, but it's still true.
