On the other hand, Nathaniel's family of any sort would be welcome, provided they keep their tentacles to themselves. ^_~ Bini tte?

You just remember you said that when Marilyn winds up screaming under the bed WITH Vadim.

Bini is Sabine Mitchell, and comes from a story in which the Apocalypse nearly did happen. ^^;; But not quite. Her section of it is that Nathaniel found her when he was chasing a human girl who had gone insane with carrying the wings of an angel (loooooooong story) who took it upon herself to kill off those she saw as evil. Admittedly, Bini's boyfriend was kind of a sleaze -- she was 15 and he was 21, and kept her on a short leash -- and he DMed for a Raveloft game, but that's really no reason for her to have made that sort of gory mess for Bini to find before taking off with the corpse. ^^; Bini had just finished screaming and heaving her guts out when Nathaniel came upstairs with two of the other Ravenloft players; Bini is also an esper of sorts and of course when she got a good squiz at Nathaniel she thought not human and threw herself into the corner to have another blubbering shrieking fit. Eventually he and Will and Carlos managed to convince her that Nathaniel was less of a danger than staying where she was, and eventually she forged a bond of sorts with him.

Bini's family was about on a par with Marilyn's, and she was now bereft of the sleaze boyfriend, so she decided she had nothing to lose and she wanted to help the group. Nathaniel warned her that it would be exceptionally dangerous and that there were things, like the bite of a vampire, that could be distracting to the point of being deadly. Bini thought this over for a minute, then stuck her wrist out at him and said, "So show me." He did, and she wound up crumpled on the floor and sobbing on his knee, not because he bit her, but because he let go, and she'd never really believed anyone to care about her that much in her entire life and he took it away again. Took him a few days, but he did pick her up and help her shape up into a semblance of a regular human being. She still doesn't talk much.

Nathaniel refuses to call her Bini -- he says it's a silly name and she can have other people use it if she wants, but she deserves respect enough from him that he'll be calling her Sabine, thank you. He taught her a little sorcery, primarily so she can go about during the day without being overwhelemed by her impressions. She holds an affection for him that she certainly doesn't for her mother, father, step-father or loser friends.

The rest of the Family doesn't show many indications. [...] I find Theo a REMARKABLE candidate for some kind of sorcery, he fits into the role in my head with rather abrupt naturalness for one of Sasha's kids.

Nathaniel, once unmasked, will cheerfully lend him many very old books in crabby humanist handwriting, inform him that he isn't in the business of saving people from their own stupidity (so you better ask questions BEFORE you try anything), and that if he takes down the phone service for the entire block he'd better be prepared to lie convincingly to everyone else about it.

Your post brought on a mental bit of half-dream conversation that went something like this --

My God, she's going to be the third love of his life. She believes him, she believes in him, and she can talk about getting rid of dragons without hysterics. And she's gorgeous, and she's a randy little thing. He would be trying to figure out the proper way to propose if he thought she would ever bother with the getting married part before shacking up. ^_~
