Hello, World!

I've returned to the realm of the living. I have a new computer. I am finally, finally ready to get back to consistent life. I know to those of you who talk to me on AIM and such it seems like I've been here, but I've been living on borrowed computers alternately for the last seven months, and entirely for the last two. Now I have a new computer -- life can settle.

Okay, what randomly to chatter about? First off, it's summer vacation, which means my interest in doing anything responsible has sunk to an all-time low. I have, like, four roleplaying journals to bump up, but I can't be bothered, even though I love my MK RPG and I love my Sasha and etc. I just can't get together the motivation, even though I want to. That's what summer vacation is all about, for me. Doing NOTHING. Even though it drives me crazy and I feel terrible.

I muuuuust remember to update everything, even -- *GASP* -- websites, the moment I get back to school. And I must update Remus' journal before that, but Ju-san hasn't given me a hard copy of the information on making the journal, so... it doesn't even exist yet... because I'm much too hard copy oriented to be able to just extrapolate what I'm supposed to do with it.

Speaking of Sasha, which we were somewhere in there, my wonderful Neesama blindsided him with perfection. I mentioned to her that he was getting antsy and wanted attention from me, but I couldn't figure out what to do with him even in his original story. She promised to see if she could dig up a character from her head to play with him, and wound up handing over "Coyote", who is a multi-billionaire straight male with a whole host of quiet, helpful mental issues. Sasha and Coyote get along *ahem* very well, once Coyote got used to the whole gay sex thing.

It's really remarkable how something comes to life when it's given a central focus. When Sasha was alone and only one of several main characters, he sort of pattered along, but now that he's among family and friends and part of the main focus, he's just blooming. I keep trying to bully him back to QPQ, but he doesn't want to go back to that uncertainty when he has this level of happiness and entertainment back "home". I think his time there is up, since Coyote's in Chicago waiting to buy him more things... I also got a chance to play Jillia for a bit, since Neesama once again wracked her head for a potential mate, and came up with a vampire named Nathaniel. Vampires didn't exist in Sasha's world at first, but they kind of came with Coyote, who had dealt with one before, and then Nathaniel edged his way in there, and there's been talk of adopting small children for Jillia, who I think might have severe infertility problems of one sort or another. The whole family's been introduced to everybody, and we're all plotting together about how best to unnerve the neighborhood pest Leslie... etc.

It LIVES now. It's remarkable, and so much fun. XD Keeps me from ever going to sleep on time. Porn takes a while to roleplay. I do feel a bit guilty that Sasha's family and interactions are what a significant number (read: 90%) of our sessions are based off of; I want my characters to be involved in the world of her characters too. But neither Coyote or Nathaniel comes with family we could meet without triggering massive headaches (they're not ready for that yet) and Coyote doesn't even have a job. (Doesn't need them. Too rich. He could dump a truckload of hundred dollar bills into the street and let people come take them away, and he'd still have too much money to ever need to work, ever.) I might want Jillia to get involved even peripherally with Nathaniel's work, which I know she's curious about to begin with, just so that Neesama can introduce me to more of her creations and Sasha's world stops monopolizing us.

Let's see... then there's MY work. I only need to give you a sample of customer conversation that I typically hear every day for you to understand what I'm talking about here:

"I'd like half a pound of pastrami. Can I see the pastrami? Is that the sale pastrami? Oh, the sale pastrami is TURKEY pastrami? Okay, show me that pastrami again. Okay, I'll take a pound of that. Wait, is that the same pastrami you just showed me? Show it to me again. Nah, I don't like that. I don't want any pastrami."

I can't wait to be able to give my two-week's notice.

I have too many books to read. I'm so lazy I can't even watch anime, and am falling behind on everything. I failed my driver's test again. My family drives me crazy. I haven't been interested in anything I love (Planet Ladder, Getbackers, Megami Kouhosei, etc) since the semester ended. And I feel terrible about all those things.

But you know what? The Suskoy siblings are very happy, and I'm actually too much of a wuss not to be happy with them. So I guess I win?

She promised to see if she could dig up a character from her head to play with him, and wound up handing over "Coyote", who is a multi-billionaire straight male with a whole host of quiet, helpful mental issues. Sasha and Coyote get along *ahem* very well, once Coyote got used to the whole gay sex thing.

Not multi-billionaire, but a fair number of millions. I said I thought he was straight, and that solely on the basis of, as he mentioned, never having been asked by a guy. XD And he does too have family, but he will never, ever, ever, EVER willingly walk up to meet them. He does not hate them; I don't think Coyote hates anything. But he does not LIKE them. They are actually farther down on the list than vampires, mostly because he's sure the vampires he's dealt with are not sane and loathsome through and through, whereas he has this compulsion to be civil to the family that wishes to make him into exactly what his parents did NOT.

Plus there is a significant chance that Sasha will decide to call his grandmother a "harpy," a "shrew," and/or a "vulture," which will cause Trouble. ^^;;

Nathaniel also comes with family, of a distant sort, and people-slash-things that could charitably be taken as "co-workers" if one were imaginative and squinted enough to ignore the tentacles. The problem with this that until Jillia displays A) magical talent, B) uncanny speed or C) significant sharpshooter ability, he is probably going to try to keep her away from anything of the sort. On the one hand, this is a perfectly sane thing to do. On the other hand, this did not work with Maria either. If Jillia decides to keep him -- and she is definitely his type -- he'll eventually give up on the, "I really SHOULD be protecting her, right?" thing. We could probably arrange A) with little trouble. The Suskoys DO look Rom (or at least Sasha WOULD if he quit dying his hair bright blond). Can't you just see Ma pulling a Petunia Dursley about it, anyway? ^_^

If the Family is unlucky (read: if Kay is sufficiently bored) Nathaniel's work might follow him to either France or Chicago when he visits. Leslie might know what the critters are, but I would have no faith in him standing up to defend anyone against anything with an aura like THAT, not to mention those teeth or that alarmingly spiked tail. XD I would suggest that if the Family wishes to play in Nathaniel's world, that Daryl start teaching people how to play with balisongs.

Come to think of it, Nathaniel has taken in a fair number of runaways over the years. I'm sure I can dig a few of those up. The Family would probably welcome Bini with open arms.

There is also, of course, Alison. But as we appear to be playing this in real-time (discounting when the porn takes multiple days to finish ^^;) she won't be married until the end of August, and won't be in Chicago until Franklin is done filming and drags back that wonderful straight actor friend of his. ^_^

Since Sasha really wouldn't appreciate jail-time, I was also thinking that meeting Coyote's family wouldn't be a good idea. ^^ Not to mention the massive headaches. On the other hand, Nathaniel's family of any sort would be welcome, provided they keep their tentacles to themselves. ^_~ Bini tte?

Regarding the Gypsy thing that popped up last night... It seems more startlingly apt the more I think about it. They DO both look the part, and I was trying to think of how to describe Jillia's dress sense to Nathaniel when he sees her out of the finery I failed but if I think about her as Romany it just sort of gets taken for granted that that's the style she would assume. And Sasha's attitude to life in general seems very Rom indeed (for example, outsiders = inferior and Family = the only worthwhile human beings ^^ ) although I imagine he would've disliked any connection with them on general principle.

As for the probabilities for blackmailing Nathaniel into letting Jillia get involved, in my original conception she's almost total noncombatant. Although she does know a small amount of self-defense aikido that Sasha taught her and Vadim taught her to manage a gun -- his family enjoyed the whole wilds-of-New-England thing a lot, and went hunting, so he learned -- I just don't know how she'd react if actually forced to fight with her life at stake. (For the record, uncanny speed fits into Sasha's thing nicely.)

On the other hand, I could see her working at some actual magical talent, so going there...

The rest of the Family doesn't show many indications. If anybody has anything, Sasha has a band of empathy too narrow to be of any practical use -- I mentioned that chance once -- and Marilyn has her psychic ability, but no real magical talent. Daryl gives me nothing, and neither does Vadim, but for some reason I find Theo a REMARKABLE candidate for some kind of sorcery, he fits into the role in my head with rather abrupt naturalness for one of Sasha's kids. (I mean, there was Marry, but she was openly and entertainingly so and humored as such. It was a cute hobby in her.)

Your post brought on a mental bit of half-dream conversation that went something like this --

Jillia: Don't you dare keep me out of this! Who's fault is it that there are dragons in Chicago?
Nathaniel: *grimly* Mine. And I'm going to --
Jillia: It's MINE. I brought you here knowing you might bring trouble and willing to accept that. So, let me just call everyone I know...

I would've pushed the Alison thing, but there's no point rushing that until we've done her actual wedding, and there's no point rushing the wedding since it's so close... ^^

You just remember you said that when Marilyn winds up screaming under the bed WITH Vadim.

Bini is Sabine Mitchell, and comes from a story in which the Apocalypse nearly did happen. ^^;; But not quite. Her section of it is that Nathaniel found her when he was chasing a human girl who had gone insane with carrying the wings of an angel (loooooooong story) who took it upon herself to kill off those she saw as evil. Admittedly, Bini's boyfriend was kind of a sleaze -- she was 15 and he was 21, and kept her on a short leash -- and he DMed for a Raveloft game, but that's really no reason for her to have made that sort of gory mess for Bini to find before taking off with the corpse. ^^; Bini had just finished screaming and heaving her guts out when Nathaniel came upstairs with two of the other Ravenloft players; Bini is also an esper of sorts and of course when she got a good squiz at Nathaniel she thought not human and threw herself into the corner to have another blubbering shrieking fit. Eventually he and Will and Carlos managed to convince her that Nathaniel was less of a danger than staying where she was, and eventually she forged a bond of sorts with him.

Bini's family was about on a par with Marilyn's, and she was now bereft of the sleaze boyfriend, so she decided she had nothing to lose and she wanted to help the group. Nathaniel warned her that it would be exceptionally dangerous and that there were things, like the bite of a vampire, that could be distracting to the point of being deadly. Bini thought this over for a minute, then stuck her wrist out at him and said, "So show me." He did, and she wound up crumpled on the floor and sobbing on his knee, not because he bit her, but because he let go, and she'd never really believed anyone to care about her that much in her entire life and he took it away again. Took him a few days, but he did pick her up and help her shape up into a semblance of a regular human being. She still doesn't talk much.

Nathaniel refuses to call her Bini -- he says it's a silly name and she can have other people use it if she wants, but she deserves respect enough from him that he'll be calling her Sabine, thank you. He taught her a little sorcery, primarily so she can go about during the day without being overwhelemed by her impressions. She holds an affection for him that she certainly doesn't for her mother, father, step-father or loser friends.

The rest of the Family doesn't show many indications. [...] I find Theo a REMARKABLE candidate for some kind of sorcery, he fits into the role in my head with rather abrupt naturalness for one of Sasha's kids.

Nathaniel, once unmasked, will cheerfully lend him many very old books in crabby humanist handwriting, inform him that he isn't in the business of saving people from their own stupidity (so you better ask questions BEFORE you try anything), and that if he takes down the phone service for the entire block he'd better be prepared to lie convincingly to everyone else about it.

Your post brought on a mental bit of half-dream conversation that went something like this --

My God, she's going to be the third love of his life. She believes him, she believes in him, and she can talk about getting rid of dragons without hysterics. And she's gorgeous, and she's a randy little thing. He would be trying to figure out the proper way to propose if he thought she would ever bother with the getting married part before shacking up. ^_~
