It seems like every time I see my grandfather he has some new story about someone who got raped and murdered by naively wandering into the scary world of the internet and following home the first person who had a friendly smiley.
These stories invariably begin with "So I read in the paper today that some seventeen-year-old girl posted her picture and personal information on a community website called Find Ur Tru Luv."
And I invariably laugh at these stories and say "Well, who would be dumb enough to do something like that?"
This is not the response he wants to hear from me. He wants to hear me go "Gee I guess I should be really careful and never ever try to meet anyone from the intarweb" or "Well that's one horror story too many, I guess I have to give up the internet now." So he always gets very agitated and tries to tell me that psychotic rapists are all very smart and you can't just tell.

maladaptive can tell anyone, normal guys who are looking for teh sexxorz tend to be pretty noticeable. They're the ones who keep IMing you and suggesting that you should meet in real life and hinting about your mutual single statuses. And a psycho killer is probably going to go after the kind of girls who naively wander into truluv.com, and won't be roleplaying hot gay sex with me and fangirling about how totally perfect they are together but shying away from heterosexual pairings because girlsex is icky, and won't be playing World of Warcraft in order to meet victims that he will then seduce by whining about how that hunter in Scarlet Monastery the other day totally rolled on his warrior lootz.
