Oral Surgery Hijinx

Two wisdom teeth came through in September, both on the right side. The upper one is angling into my cheek weirdly and should be removed. The lower one is okay. The lower left one is impacted and half-buried under gum, which promises to cause many trouble. The upper left one is still hiding, but like all wisdom teeth, has sworn to emerge with extreme pain at an inopportune time in my life, and probably also be angled into my cheek from the look at it.

They should all come out.

The actual visit wasn't bad, they hardly touched me, it was a single X-ray and about twenty collective seconds of mouth-poking. I told them to make sure I was very unconscious and they promised me I would be.

But I read the papers they gave me describing preparation for the procedure and what I could expect afterwards, and those had me in tears.

It would probably suck more if I had to go through another three days of crippling tooth agony that was the first wisdom teeth coming in, and then get cavities in all my crooked hygenically-difficult new teeth...

But... it still sucks. *cling*

I had to get all of mine removed, and it wasn't pretty. Plan on giving yourself two days where you don't have to do anything. Also, have plenty of soup, yogurt, pudding, or other soft foods that you like, available. Old classic feel-good movies are a plus too. I hope it goes okay for you! ♥

All at once. It was, sorry to sound so pessimistic- miserable. However, the dentist said the nerves in my teeth are unusually sensitive, and it is not usually so bad for most people. Personally, if I had to go through it again, I'd probably still opt for all at once. At least it wouldn't be spread out, and if it hurts a lot the first time, you won't have to worry about doing it three more times. The weird thing is, the worst part of the experience was the anesthesia. When they were putting me under it was as if I was high- which was a horrible sensation. Then they woke me up and I had no idea where I was so I was...uh...not happy. x.x;;; Make sure someone is there to take care of you for a good, long while. You won't be able to stand up for many hours afterwards. I'm so sorry, this is probably making you feel even worse about it, but I've always felt it's important to be prepared for bad situations. The good thing? Everyone is really sweet to you, you get to eat all your favorite squishy foods, and your mouth will never hurt again! ^_^ *hugs* Good luck~~

Stock up with gushy foods. You're gonna turn into a baby again! The good part is that you'll be so drugged up you won't notice anything... for days. ^^;;;

You know, the other reason I like dentists...I didn't have to have my wisdom teeth out. Coming in they hurt like hell, but they are fully in and straight and all that good stuff. Also, I didn't know people got wisdom teeth. Whoever was in charge of mentioning that missed me apparently. I thought I had broken a tooth off and there were jagged pieces left in my mouth. *pets dumb self*
