Just give me my paycheck!
Yesterday--
Ashley: ...and Kay's job will be to look over, check everything for internal consistency, and neaten up the manuscript.
Me: Awesome! I get to do copy-editing! I love copy-editing! ♥
I glance at the first page today, skim it over, and it's like a train-wreck. I knew it would be. I've watched Ashley write emails before and it's painful. I just want to tell him, stop. there doesn't need to be a comma there. or there. PUT THE COMMAS DOWN. why is there a space there?! what is up with your parentheses?! STOP WITH THE COMMAS.
So I make a few idle marks. It takes me about thirty seconds before I'm done with the first page and realize that the entire proposal will be covered in red when I'm done, so maybe I should let Chris do his technical checks before I make it annoying to read.
Today--
Ashley: Hi Kay. I was just thinking -- maybe you could read for consistency first, and then check the editing on the next read-through.
Me: I'm not really spending extra time on it... I notice it automatically so it's not really a big deal.
Ashley: Okay, that's great. But maybe you could just read for consistency first. We don't want you to spend a lot of time editing something that might just get removed.
Me: ...It doesn't take me extra time.
But it would apparently really make him happy if I just ignore all my editing urges the first time around and instead indulge them on redundant readings of the same draft. Hey, whatever, man.

Everyone is posting musicblogness for Kingdom Hearts. My contribution is totally cracked out.
The song "I Constantly Thank God for Esteban" by Panic! At The Disco makes me think of Marluxia for no reason. For one thing, if anyone in Kingdom Hearts is going to start making random Catholic allegories, it would be him. For another thing, if anyone in Kingdom Hearts is going to have ridiculously flashy Latino guitar beats, it would be him.
But the song is a snarky dig at posers in general who go on and on about their beliefs and their passions and their causes and are all just faking it.
I, for one, can see no blood from the hearts
Or the wrists you allegedly slit.
And I, for one, won't stand for this;
If this scene were a parish you'd all be condemned!
This song would be Marluxia going "At least FAKE a little passion, you bastards."
If Marluxia made Catholic allegories and his column of rosepetals came with flashy Latino guitar beats.
((Panic! At the Disco also gets bonus points because "London Beckoned Songs About Money Written By Machines" includes the lyric "I'm burning and I'm blacking my lungs / boy, you know it feels good with fire back on your tongue". And that one line really wishes it could be Axel/Roxas smut.))

I haven't stopped writing original material per se, as I'm still poking the script for Last Dreamer along. But I'm writing significantly fewer drabbles for miscellaneous fiction. XD Fanfic is fun.
