KHFFR & Yaoi Halloween

I'd like to thank anyone in [livejournal.com profile] khfanficrants who pointed out that digging up a rant from nine months ago that someone made on their personal LJ and posting it out of context? Is a little lame. Slow news day over there, or what?

I'd also like to laugh at anyone in [livejournal.com profile] khfanficrants who didn't actually read what they were replying to, and so made generalizations about how it's bad that I made a generalization that they're all hypocrites, when in fact it was the poster generalizing that they are all hypocrites, and I myself was very specific. The moral of the story is: Generalizing about generalizations about generalizations is bad.

Also, new glossary term: Yaoi Halloween! I have been instructed to pass this one on to you. Yaoi Halloween is when two or more entities in elaborate love polygons are wearing masks that happen to resemble the members of a given fandom, e.g. Zexion and Demyx (in the case in question). Yaoi Halloween is the exclusive territory of badfic.

Fans: the greatest enemy of fandom. ^_^

Was this something that happened to you? I mean, were you the linked up old rant?

Yeah, someone read a rant I wrote nine months ago (specifically, about how some fans of weird pairings think that they're "better" than fans of the popular pairings; this was especially prominent on KHFFR, where -- at least at the time -- a bunch of those people gathered together and were actively vehement about how fans of certain popular pairings were all mindless sheep and probably twelve years old) and posted a link to it on KHFFR.

About 75% of the comments were "Well, that was posted on her personal LJ, so... isn't it kind of rude to post it here? It's not like she forced anyone to read it. If she can't post her opinions on her LJ, where can she post it?" and a good number agreed that this attitude is prevalent. Most asked her to take down the link (which she didn't) and the mods called troll on her and marked her post as such. XD So in the end the day was mostly won, but for a while there it was still weird to have people suddenly commenting on that old thing. I got nice-trolled!

Geesh. That sucks. It's good to be on lock-down sometimes...

Did you know the person/troll? Random vendetta?

Random person, says she was reading fics, possibly mine, because she wound up at my journal, and...... I guess read like my entire journal. Doesn't it figure-- she didn't actually comment on anything I wrote, but she tried to start controversy by linking a post where I ranted about a certain community on that community, nine months after I wrote it. XD
