Portfolio. Portfolio. Must actually write portfolio. I have a quarter of the work to do that Alicia and Jess do. There is no earthly or unearthly reason for me to be going to such lengths to avoid writing the last pieces of the portfolio I should've handed in this morning. Must get good GPA so my mother doesn't kill me when I don't come home with a summer job lined up.
I have no summer job, and no money. My family has no money now either, seeing as how my stepfather's been unemployed since 9/11. My mother will kill me. If you don't think so, that's because you don't know my mother.
I wonder if this is Misery Week? I've been browsing LJs and things, and it seems like everybody on the face of the planet is depressed. Some of them have really sucky shit going on, that makes me feel like I'm not justified in being depressed. *sweatdrop* So I'm glad I just hate my writing now, instead of my entire situation and life like I did earlier in the week.
Let's see, what else can I say to avoid the portfolio -- I mean, before I write the portfolio.
Last day of classes was today, whee! I'm enjoying the QPQ RP massively, and am thinking very seriously about the next update of the Theatre. That doesn't count as writing, because it's short and simple and... isn't writing. It's just the Theatre.
Now, for my gratuituous observations of the Scryed manga: Kazuma is not terribly bright at the best of times, but much more testosterone-ridden in the manga. Kanami is still cute. The showdown with Kazuma and Ryuhou in the living room with an oblivious Kanami was funny, but beyond that I'm rather "Eh" on Ryuhou. He just seems to be a jerk somehow. Considering that in the next three manga volumes, in between fighting, he will fall in love with Mimori, have spiritual sex with Sherrice, and then fall out of love with Mimori just in time to fall in love with Sherrice... I'm thinking maybe jerk is a pretty good identification for Manga!Ryuhou.
Speaking of the girls, I like Mimori even more: there was something really strong about the way she stood up to those would-be rapists and was determined to not let herself be hurt by them, and even got angry at Kazuma when HE hurt THEM. ("Why must you cling to the outmoded perception that violence is always the answer?!" She was kind of right, too -- her passive angry resistance was upsetting the would-be rapists a great deal.) Plus, she's working for the rebels so nobody gets hurt. And she doesn't seem to have the childhood connection to Ryuhou anymore: her reasons for coming here are now entirely charitable. I *heart* Mimori. Meanwhile, Sherrice is boobtacular!! and might even still have a personality between *perkperk, bouncebounce* somewhere. I can't tell. It hurts me very deeply that the one thing I found really, really admirable about her character is going to be shattered and twisted in the manga.
Cougar is not as cool as he used to be plus his name was flipped to "Cougar Straight" -- and Kimishima seems to retain his cool. Asuka makes me cringe AND want to slap him simultaneously because of his disgusting innuendo-laden fight with Akira.
Akira might singlehandedly save this manga for me -- but I don't know why. I just can't figure out why. And Hannish, Akira's protector/sidekick/boyfriend, is a big softie -- just as long as you don't get in Akira's way.
So in short: Lawless is really, really cool. HOLY has degenerated sadly. And Kazuma-tachi... just are.
That was a pretty good waste of time. Yeah! Now to write response papers. *siiiiigh*

Asuka: *gloating* My balls will smash your pole anytime!
Akira: *apparently missing it* This isn't a pole, it's the Sound Staff.
----
Asuka: I have two balls for you to swallow!
----
Asuka: Now let me hear you BARK, bitch!
----
Asuka: No... You're breaking my balls! Your pole destroyed my balls!
Akira: *grimly* You're asking for trouble... if you fight with your balls. You should fight with your-- [emotions.]
Asuka: *interrupting* Oh, shut up! You're one to talk! You're fighting with your pole!
Me: Asuka, are you in sixth grade, or what?
