Hello, World!
Jul. 30th, 2003 02:09 pmI've returned to the realm of the living. I have a new computer. I am finally, finally ready to get back to consistent life. I know to those of you who talk to me on AIM and such it seems like I've been here, but I've been living on borrowed computers alternately for the last seven months, and entirely for the last two. Now I have a new computer -- life can settle.
Okay, what randomly to chatter about? First off, it's summer vacation, which means my interest in doing anything responsible has sunk to an all-time low. I have, like, four roleplaying journals to bump up, but I can't be bothered, even though I love my MK RPG and I love my Sasha and etc. I just can't get together the motivation, even though I want to. That's what summer vacation is all about, for me. Doing NOTHING. Even though it drives me crazy and I feel terrible.
I muuuuust remember to update everything, even -- *GASP* -- websites, the moment I get back to school. And I must update Remus' journal before that, but Ju-san hasn't given me a hard copy of the information on making the journal, so... it doesn't even exist yet... because I'm much too hard copy oriented to be able to just extrapolate what I'm supposed to do with it.
Speaking of Sasha, which we were somewhere in there, my wonderful Neesama blindsided him with perfection. I mentioned to her that he was getting antsy and wanted attention from me, but I couldn't figure out what to do with him even in his original story. She promised to see if she could dig up a character from her head to play with him, and wound up handing over "Coyote", who is a multi-billionaire straight male with a whole host of quiet, helpful mental issues. Sasha and Coyote get along *ahem* very well, once Coyote got used to the whole gay sex thing.
It's really remarkable how something comes to life when it's given a central focus. When Sasha was alone and only one of several main characters, he sort of pattered along, but now that he's among family and friends and part of the main focus, he's just blooming. I keep trying to bully him back to QPQ, but he doesn't want to go back to that uncertainty when he has this level of happiness and entertainment back "home". I think his time there is up, since Coyote's in Chicago waiting to buy him more things... I also got a chance to play Jillia for a bit, since Neesama once again wracked her head for a potential mate, and came up with a vampire named Nathaniel. Vampires didn't exist in Sasha's world at first, but they kind of came with Coyote, who had dealt with one before, and then Nathaniel edged his way in there, and there's been talk of adopting small children for Jillia, who I think might have severe infertility problems of one sort or another. The whole family's been introduced to everybody, and we're all plotting together about how best to unnerve the neighborhood pest Leslie... etc.
It LIVES now. It's remarkable, and so much fun. XD Keeps me from ever going to sleep on time. Porn takes a while to roleplay. I do feel a bit guilty that Sasha's family and interactions are what a significant number (read: 90%) of our sessions are based off of; I want my characters to be involved in the world of her characters too. But neither Coyote or Nathaniel comes with family we could meet without triggering massive headaches (they're not ready for that yet) and Coyote doesn't even have a job. (Doesn't need them. Too rich. He could dump a truckload of hundred dollar bills into the street and let people come take them away, and he'd still have too much money to ever need to work, ever.) I might want Jillia to get involved even peripherally with Nathaniel's work, which I know she's curious about to begin with, just so that Neesama can introduce me to more of her creations and Sasha's world stops monopolizing us.
Let's see... then there's MY work. I only need to give you a sample of customer conversation that I typically hear every day for you to understand what I'm talking about here:
"I'd like half a pound of pastrami. Can I see the pastrami? Is that the sale pastrami? Oh, the sale pastrami is TURKEY pastrami? Okay, show me that pastrami again. Okay, I'll take a pound of that. Wait, is that the same pastrami you just showed me? Show it to me again. Nah, I don't like that. I don't want any pastrami."
I can't wait to be able to give my two-week's notice.
I have too many books to read. I'm so lazy I can't even watch anime, and am falling behind on everything. I failed my driver's test again. My family drives me crazy. I haven't been interested in anything I love (Planet Ladder, Getbackers, Megami Kouhosei, etc) since the semester ended. And I feel terrible about all those things.
But you know what? The Suskoy siblings are very happy, and I'm actually too much of a wuss not to be happy with them. So I guess I win?
