Today I saw a webcomic with really mediocre art and an even less impressive webpage. The story might have potential since it seemed to have Plot, but the pictures I saw to advertise for it were very uninspired and made cliches immediately spring to my mind about the main relationship and its conflicts. I paged about four or five times through the archive and stopped because I failed to be interested in any part of it, least of all the art, which is anime-ish and very fanart-y.

The first "book" is getting printed soon.

I thought to myself, "We really must be living in a luxury culture if people are willing to waste money on such a bland presentation, either printing it or purchasing it. Doesn't talent or inspiration matter anymore?"

Then I felt sort of bad for thinking that about what is evidently a popular webcomic, but it's still true.

News bulletin from a person who is obviously not a news reporter -- or indeed, any sort of reputable source.

Martians invade Earth after receiving intelligence that Bush was plotting a Mission to Mars. Although they find no Weapons of Mars Destruction they insist we had the capacity to build them. Alien war profiteers reopen Alcatraz, rename it Abu Probe, proceed to "interrogate" humans.

I'm amused.
