Raven ship?! Meme sheep!

After having read the summary of the first part of the Tales of Vesperia novel with Raven's backstory, I... think I ship Raven/Sodia. In the game and in the novel Raven has compared her to Flynn (he said that Yuri and Flynn remind him of himself and Casey; since Raven and Yuri have a lot in common, I've always assumed that Flynn must remind him of her). This is still a decent comparison after reading the novel; they certainly have a lot of attitudes and conflicts in common.

But Casey seems very Sodialike, too. I thought so the moment she snapped at Duke for suggesting they flee the battlefield, because that's not what Commandant Alexei said; when they said things like she never made sarcastic commentary; when they commented on her strict unsmiling hostility towards young!Raven. Now I kind of want to fic Raven/Sodia.

Also, Casey was a captain? Awesome. Go go female captain.

Also, loved the Alexei we saw in this novel, it explains so much about why Flynn idolized him.

/lives up to character bias accusations everywhere! :D

But it is bias for an awesome and unloved character! Hnn, Link is tough because we know so little about his past right now, and just got a hint that there's more to it than meets the eye.


(a) 3 headcanon facts
1... The jobs that the Vatican asks of Link involve killing much more often than they do not. He doesn't have a significant problem with that, and of course, he'll never breathe a word about it to anyone.

2... He got into baking to relax himself, because he adooores sugar, and because they make excellent gifts. Who doesn't like cake and pie? But he has started changing his cooking ways to represent more balanced meals after months of nitpicking the food choices of King Carbs-a-lot.

3... Link always has two books on him: one actual book, and one of his journals. When you see him reading, it's about half and half as to whether or not he's ever reading the novel, or rereading his old journal entries. It's supposed to keep him focused on his mission, but lately those entries are just a sequence of anecdotes about derpy things Allen did, so it's kind of -- nostalgic instead.


(b) 2 awesome things about him
1... I absolutely adore how Link spent a few chapters just looking like some accountant nerd who followed Allen around and made him do paperwork and smirked in a superior way when Allen went "THERE'S A MAN IN THE MIRROR WHY DON'T YOU SEE IT??" and even when he came on missions with them just sat in a corner and read his book. ...and then surprised everyone when he turned out to have awesome ninja sorcerer skills.

2... During the incident where everyone turned into zombies, Link very fussily wrote a journal entry about how this was all Komui's fault, and someone should take away that man's funding. And then Komui's robot ate his journal and ran away. I love those two pages way more than I have any reason to.


(c) 5 things that should happen to him
1... He should never find that all his riding pants things have been burned and then never go back to wearing them.
2... He should get to do more baking. When was the last time he got to enjoy a really good pie?!
3... He should get to save more Exorcists and get to fully infiltrate the four leads, instead of just lurking around them.
4... He should definitely have a crisis about Madarao, Tevak, and Tokusa being kidnapped by the Earl so that I can see his backstory.
5... He should get to have some conflict with Leverrier. He's been that man's faithful dog for too long and I want to see him starting to resent it. This thing that happened with Allen last chapter is the perfect opportunity; he's already resenting it.


(d) 3 ships
1... ALLEN. Oh yes. The canon connection they have, the growing bond, the fact that Link comes out of the nowhere and has an angsty flashback to all the times he's spent with Allen and just knows that Allen is different somehow, his angst at the idea of having to kill him if he goes out of control -- it's amazing.
2... Tevak. She's the Third girl he's been hanging out with, Madarao's younger sister, and Link's connection to them is currently unknown but very interesting. I really enjoyed the panels where they were together, and his efforts to save both her and Allen when she started to attack Allen.
3... Lenalee. Why? I don't really know. But I kind of ship it.
