I've always turned on auto-battle out of pure laziness, in order to do other things while playing Tales games. I've never done it because I felt like I sucked before.

Don't worry, I kinda suck too at that stuff, I'm just now getting the hang of it (adult arc seems a lot easier to control the characters). I know it will get a lot easier for you as you keep playing. =D
