EMPLOYMENT GET

So, I'm employed again! Hooray! And this time I'm working in an actual library! Like an actual librarian!

I'm working at a charter school with an enviromental/science focus in what is technically inner city Philly. There's only about 600 kids there, K through 8, and it doesn't pay great, but the important thing is that I am gaining experience in 1) a library, and 2) working with kids, both things I was sadly lacking before.

Oh, and I only work 7 hours a day. That's pretty sweet. I only get limited healthcare for this position, but I do get a bunch of paid holidays, paid days off if the school declares a snow day, and of course summers off. Plus the school is only four miles from my apartment!

It feels so good. And the kids are kind of adorable, even though I am intimidated by them. And by everyone else, really. People say hi to me for no reason. You can't put pressure on me like that!!

That's true. It was frustrating looking for jobs my last semester in library school. Now that I'm in accounting, it's much easier, especially since a lot of firms have first-round interviews right on campus. But who knows what will happen? I like reference, so I keep that door open. (It's a bit scary how suited I am to accounting, though. I would've saved myself a lot of money if I'd known this, but these are the journeys we take through life, ne?)

:O I wouldn't be able to be without trees. :/ I'm trying to swing it so I live somewhere with plants when I move downstate for work. At which point I would love to see you sometime!

This is all contingent upon my acquiring employment before graduation, but we're trying the thinking positive thing! I should be moving at some point in the middle of next year. 'Where' is uncertain right now, but it's looking like somewhere within decently short commuting distance of NYC. I shall let you know, of course~
